341ml bottle. I can't believe the marketing suits would approve any beer with 'canoe' in the name, given the old joke about this sort of thing. This brand has been cluttering up the bottom shelves of liquor stores everywhere for the past while, and is of the ilk that stops me from even considering buying any size in multiples. Ergo, selected from a downtown Indian restaurant's beer fridge, to go alongside the heat of a stellar lamb vindaloo.

This beer pours a clear, very pale straw colour, with three fingers of puffy, thinly foamy, and mostly soapy dirty white head, which leaves some random splattered and specked lace around the glass as it quickly falls away.

It smells of a very mild corn and grainy, um, 'sweetness', stale lemon, and a softly skunky, grassy, and weedy astringency. The taste is lightly sweet pale grain, a hint of creamed corn, faint weedy, cooked veggies, and is more watery-tasting than beery.

The carbonation is moderate, just enough to buoy this up beyond lethargy, the body a wan featherweight, and yet still somewhat cloying in its super-simple attempt at smoothness. It finishes just off-dry, the grainy sweetness sort of plodding on, while the various astringencies slowly disappear from the radar, one by one.

Best short description I can think of before my dinner gets cold: tainted water - nothing much else really going on here. If consuming with strongly flavoured cuisine, then at least this beer is wet, and thus 'drinkable', but hardly [Premium].

A very basic beer. Pours pale yellow, with quickly disapearing head. Aroma is marginally cheesy. Light mouthfeel, not burning, but not much above water. Marginally a feather of taste above the typical macros. Managd to drink one mouthfull, and poured the rest.

A - Poured very pale yellow with a thin layer of white head.

S - Almost no nose. A very subdued bready sweetness is evident and not much else.

T. Slight bready malt taste. Watery. Very slight hop presense in background.

M - Light body. Moderate carbonation.

O - Not a great beer, for for 3.5% ABV, could have been a lot worse.

2 oz bottle from the lcbo- A clear and light sparkling gold, with a fizzy white cap. Nose of faint grassy hops and straw, some wet paper. tastes of very faint grassy hops and slightly sweet pale malts. Overly carbonated and quick on the finish. One of the least flavourful beers I have ever had. Pass.

Cracked Canoe is a 3.5% ABV refreshing beverage with all of the taste of a 5% lager, but only 90 calories and less of the alcohol content. I enjoyed the CC I had at lunch the other day, because I was able to come back to work clear headed. I think the packaging is very tasteful, and the beer was easy to drink, and had the full flavour I like in a lager beer.

For what this beer is; being low in alcohol and calories; it has a surprisingly amount of good flavour. This must be due to the fact that the beer is slow-brewed. I would drink this beer over any other light beer as it has more flavour and you can casually drink a few of these and still be drinking something with some flavour.

Cracked Canoe is a premium light lager that has a crisp, clean finish. It's light color and taste make it easy to drink. I sometimes add a lime to it and love drinking it on the boat in the summer time.

Give it a try if you like light tasting beer / low cal.

I had this in a bottle a couple weeks ago, after carrying fourty twelve packs of them for a local arts establishment, I got it for free, but it costs about $12 for a 6-pack.

Appearance - it comes in a green bottle, black label with simple white imagery. In terms of packaging it seems very trendy and well-marketed, well-done but not my thing. It pours a very pale yellow colour, with a pure white head, reminiscent of vernor's, but even paler in colour. Not a beer I like, but it fits the style, so it gets a 3.

Smell - rather plain, not any bread-like smell like some other lagers I've had, but instead has some corny smell to it. also had very little yeasty smell to it. This also fits the style, so while not good it still gets a 3.

Taste - not much to it, there was some bitterness at the end, and I think some minimal "citrus", or maybe "green apple" like sweet taste to it before that - I think I was just thinking of it because the bottle was green. It finished very cleanly and kinda left me wanting more. This stuff was pretty watery and bland, buyt again that's the style, flavour is bad for light beer I guess, so it gets a 4 because it's exactly like it's light brethren.

Mouthfeel - a lot like perrier or tonic water or club soda, just water with some fizzy carbonation in it. Again, not very good, but it suits the style pretty darn well, so it gets a 4.

Drinkability - In line with my own tastes, it's only drinkable in the sense that it's so bland and watery it doesn't go down with any fuss. In short, if you or your girlfriend don't like tasting beer, but want to be social, buy this stuff. If you're looking for something that can be described as more than "beeresque", don't go near this stuff.

A just when I thought I've seen the lightest looking beer ever Moosehead comes out with this one, no head no lace to go along with no color

S some grassy hops and very little else

T again grassy hops but I'm more impressed by the total lack of flavor this beer has going on

M a little watery with no aftertaste, mind you there's no taste to begin with so that should be expected

D there's just nothing going on here, bland and boring

no reason to try this beer it's a waste of time and water

Bottle: pours a pale gold lager with a small fast disappearing cap, weak lacing.

Weak nose: light cereals, grain husk mustiness little else.

Weak, not mild, but weak character, watery mouth feel, flavor is weak as well, barely detectable cereals but hops are indefinable, fast clean watery finish.

Perhaps it was unfair throwing this one into a tasting with large beers and fresh micro fare but I don't think I'm interested enough in this lame offering to give it another try.

Promised myself I would never buy a 6er so when I found a single in the mix and match bin today I figured I'd give it one a whirl...

12oz bottle poured into my SA Perfect Pint (Not that it would help much)

A- I'm sorry did I buy a bottle of water?? This is THE lightest colored beer I've ever seen. Palest of straw yellow pours ever. Half finger head lasted for seconds and fizzled to nothing. Carbonation was erupting from the bottom of the glass.

S- Grass, yeast, corn faint dirty socks or old damp dishcloth.

T- Water, nothing really else. The grass and yeast are faint but that's about it...

M- Watery but carbonation kind of improves the feel.

D- I'm giving the drinkability a 3 on this for two reasons; one positive and one negative.

Pro - Watery, tastes like almost nothing so drinking these on a hot summer day would be refreshing.

Con - At $12.50 for a sixer of "premium light beer" just makes me want to vomit. If I'm going to spend that kind of money on a sixer I'd spend the extra $2.00 and get a 60 minute IPA or Dead Guy Ale.

I understand the macro companies are starting to shift some of their focus to "light" or "low calorie" beers but the price is outlandish for 6 bottles of basically Perrier.

Tried this one at Jack's in Kingsville.
Crystal clear and pale yellow with fizzy bubbles and a thin collar of white foam. Weak aroma, some malt and grain, faint fruitiness, maybe a bit grassy. The flavour had some grainy sweetness, bitterness was quite low, and there were hints of fruity esters and spicy hops, but it all came off on the thin and watery side. Light bodied, carbonation was a little on the high side making it feel somewhat sharp rather than crisp. It really didn't have a lot of character, but it wasn't a disaster either.
