For what this beer is; being low in alcohol and calories; it has a surprisingly amount of good flavour. This must be due to the fact that the beer is slow-brewed. I would drink this beer over any other light beer as it has more flavour and you can casually drink a few of these and still be drinking something with some flavour.

If you take a can or bottle of regular moosehead, pour out half and fill back up with water you will have a cracked canoe. Very watery with almost no taste. I put 3 for taste because it does not taste bad if you like water. Not unpleasant but I’ll never buy again.

Pours crystal clear straw with a wispy head. Light graininess in the aroma. Some vegetal notes. The taste is lightly malty with a touch of sweetness. Prickly carbonation in the light mouthfeel. Short, dry finish.

This is a very basic Light Lager with minimal flavor. Not my style and a bit watery even for a Light Lager.

Clear pale gold with a modest, fast-disappearing head. Sweet grassy nose, not unpleasant. Very light body per style, very mild flavour. Some dryness and crisp enough. Ok for style, it did earn Bronze after all.

Light, smooth, easy drinking.
Nothing special but tastes like beer and no off flavors. Something to drink if its there.

Tallboy from the LCBO; coded C14 9 (Mar 14 2019) and served well chilled. One of the few beers that has been readily accessible to me for literally a decade now, yet has somehow avoided review up until this point.

Pours crystal clear and pale golden-yellow, with one finger of soapy white head that lasts for less than two minutes' time. A modest collar of foam sticks around, along with a few far-flung strands of lace; looks about right for the style. The nose is hard to describe, in the sense that there's not much there to describe in the first place - maybe a hint of grain husk and grassy hops, with an asterisk beside the latter.

Very straightforward and frankly, bland - I'm getting corn husk, apple skin and graininess for the most part, with hints of cardboard and cereal sweetness on the back end and into the aftertaste. Light in body, with aggressive carbonation that prickles the palate continuously throughout the glass; nice, crisp, lively texture, which is what I like in this style. A sixer of this would not last long while spending time around the campfire.

Final Grade: 3.23, a C+. Cracked Canoe is nothing special, but as someone who does try to grade to style, it's kinda underrated. Basically inoffensive, in a manner similar to club soda - this one's weakly grainy aspects do make it a slight bit more flavourful than straight-up carbonated water, though. I wouldn't pay money for this again, but if someone handed it to me I'd thank them and toss it back without complaint. About on par with Miller Lite.

This is an excellent light beer. Easy to drink, not bloaty or overly fizzy. Tastes like beer, pleasingly flavourful- it is a light beer but much better than the typical lineup. No obscure potpourri hops or lingering aftertastes. My new keep-it-on-hand standard beer that anyone who likes beer will enjoy. Beer snobs feel free to rip it but I guarantee lots of folks are choking down your craft choices just to be polite.

Cracked Canoe Premium Light Lager by Moosehead Breweries, Saint John, New Brunswick. 3.5% alc.

The beer has a fluffy white head that lingers for a few moments and then essentially disappears.

The beer itself is a pale yellow and very clear with lots of tiny bubbles.

The smell is subtle and consists of white bread, cereal grain, a hint of hops, and a touch of grassiness. All of this transfers to the taste.

The mouthfeel is prickly carbonation.

This is a light bodied beer with a crisp and clean finish.

It gets a poor rating on Beer Advocate and I don’t get that.

For what this is it is extremely well made and worth trying.

Like another reviewer pointed out, you have to judge this beer within its own category. The flavour and mouthfeel is really special for a super light beer. Easily the best light beer I've had in years.
