Always crowded...every night of the week.

Lots of locals hanging at the bar, and the rest of the tables filled with patrons.

Food consists of sandwiches, brick oven pizzas that are fantastic, calzones, salads.

Beer selection ranges from 4-8 beers usually on tap. A few regulars like a steam, and seasonals, like maibock, barleywine, etc. Beers are above average, never had a bad one.

Nico, the owner is in the process of adding a new location more aimed at dining while the existing location will remain a local hangout.

Place is laid out like an Applebees, and has a touristy feel. Bar with booth opposite it. 8 beers on tap, the one I had was solid. Efficient service. Food was very tasty.

I love Turtle Mountain. The food is great, the service is awesome and they always have a very good selection of house brews on tap. If you can find them, I highly recommend their Barleywine and their Milkshake Stout. Both 5-Star beers. They are also very supportive of the local homebrewing community, which is a huge bonus for us.

This was a regular stop of mine for a couple of years when I stayed in Rio Rancho on business from Austin. The place was always packed. A bit difficult to find parking if you showed up after sundown.

Pretty tasty selection in in-house beer. Very good IPA from what I remember.

Very friendly staff. I would always try to sit at the bar and folks were more than willing to let me sample a bit of this and that. Seemed like an awful lot of regular customers sat at the bar...you could bring in your own mug/glass and the staff would fill it for you upon arrival, then leave it up on the wall for your next visit. Pretty cool.

The pizza here is just incredible! Highly recommended!

I wish they would've had a sign out on the main road so I wouldn't have passed the turnoff, oh well. Parking is a bit thight. Just an average looking building with some extra space outside to allow for patio seating.
Upon entering I feel like I've been here 50 times before, no real identity but not horrible to where I could knoch it. Dining room seating is mostly booth style, bar faces the back wall with no real view of anything.
Service was fairly good given the fact that the place was slammed.
A sizeable menu, listing New Mexico style dishes will find most customers gulping water.
My pizza was awesome.
TMBC is turning out some quality libations, I couldn't find a loser in my sampler set. Locals I'm sure count themselves as lucky.
If I can, I will return.

Atmosphere:
TMBC's new restaurant allowed them to double their brewing operations. Now they have 10 beers flowing on tap, two are cask, and three are IPA's! Also they have an expanded menu. Yet they still had the same awesome pizzas, calzones, grinders, and salads that we all know and love. There is a large bar area with three TV's (one is a 120" TV), plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and even a private event room with another 120" TV. I spoke to Nico (owner) about his new location, and he was very excited about it. In fact, they had to shut down their old place because their restuarant took all the business. However, they will be re-opening it as an English style pub, "The Fat Squirrel". They need to get that place opened soon, because the restaurant was jam packed.
Beer:
I believe they may have "toned down" their beer for the masses. Of course, I have adapted more to hoppier beers over the two years since I last enjoyed TMBC. As I said above, they have a lot more selection of beer. On tap, they had: American Hefeweizen, Golden Ale, Red Rye, 914 Amber, Steam Ale, Triple Play Pale Ale, 917 IPA, TMBC IPA, Irish Stout, and Maximus IPA as the Brewer's Special. They also had bottled beers from other microbreweries and Belgian breweries. I kicked it off with my usual sampler; all the beers were very drinkable. I then had the Maximus IPA, which I thought was very smooth for such a strong IPA. Finally, I had the Three ??Delouths?? (it wasn't written down) Pale Ale off cask; definitely hoppier than their Triple Play, and the cask pump made it much smoother without the CO2.

There are two Turtle Mountain Brewing places - both out of the way.

a) The "Tap Room" - where the locals hang out (37?? Southern Blvd).

The Tap Room was a little sketchy and smoky for me and my mom.

b) There is also a new BrewPub/Restaurant, just down the road at 9045 36th place.

We found the restaurant atmosphere to be very nice. The place was packed on the Saturday night that we showed up.

They have a bar area with some seating, TV’s and one very large screen TV, a dinning area and a back room, which looked to be very kid friendly.

My mom and I were able to store two seats at the very large high-top table in the bar area, where we had some “interesting” conversions with our fellow diners/drinkers.

We got to try the brick oven pizza which was quite tasty, and the wings which were a little bit small. I enjoyed their locally brewed beers, especially the Red Rye. Of Note: you can get a beer in a 35oz glass, if you are very thirsty.

Overall, I’d say the BrewPub/Restaurant was a pretty good dining/drinking experience.

This is definately a local's spot. I've only been at nights and theres usually a decent crowd. Atmosphere is very laid back and can be rather noisy. They usually have 6-8 beers on tap which can really run the gamut from pretty good to downright bad, so i reccomend sampling before comitting to a pint. The steam and rye beers are particular favorites of mine. I have never tried the food, but it seems like pizza is their thing. The service is neither remarkably good or bad. Overall, I would say this is worth checking out for a change of pace if you live in the area, but if you are visiting, chances are this is kinda out of your way and I wouldn't really waste my time.
