From the 32 oz. "Crowler" can. Sampled on June 28, 2015. This can is probably about 4 weeks old.
Orange-amber heady pour with a little fog and a lot of lacing.
The aroma begins like a slightly hopped pale ale with the bread and toast but within a moment the citrus, tropical, and fruity hops pour forward like the wake left by a motorboat.
I would put the body at full but it is definitely creamy and smooth. No astringency, acidity, or heavy carbonation despite the huge head.
The taste is one second of toasted pale malts and bread and then overtaken by the fruity hop sensation. Yet the hop bitterness is not as pronounced as I expected given the hoppier aroma. Lingering fruity bitterness. All hail the fruity hops!

Had on tap. Murky brownish yellow with no head, but nice lacing as you drink. Smell is tropical fruit forward though solid grapefruit and orange too, with of course those dank citra hops to finish. Taste was not as vibrant as smell, malt backbone compliments fruit well, but hops feel undercut. Feel is smooth, medium bodied and hoppy. Enjoyable pale ale

From a 16oz can, dated 02/09/17. Served in a nonic.
Pours a thoroughly murky, copper-pear colour with two fingers of tight, creamy head. Retention is very good, leaving complicated patterns of lacing sheeting down the glass.
The nose and taste are identical: peaches and pears, oranges and apricots, bubblegum and, um, hand-soap. Creamy and juicy with a soft, slightly resinous, lightly lingering bitterness.
Feel is soft and smooth, medium-thick bodied and well carbonated. Despite the relatively small abv, this is a substantial, filling ale; I should find it hard to drink more than one or two of these.
Overall, a tasty beverage in the NEIPA style. Here's the thing about Garrison City, though, they're doing some great stuff but there's an off taste in every one of their beers. This one tastes like public lavatory hand soap to me and, in fact, it lingers on the palate and gets worse over time. Nobody else I know ever seems to notice which makes me wonder if maybe I'm crazy.
(Replaces 05/2016 rating... this is a totally different tasting beer).

from 16oz can dated 2/1/17 (so very fresh at 3 days old)
Pours an unattractive murky orange color, but has a lovely unfiltered opaqueness. The head is somewhat thin but creamy and lush. I see fantastic lacing with thick foam stuck to the glass.
Aroma is more subdued than I wanted. It has the obvious citrus tones of citra hops with a tad of orange and grassiness (could be because it is so fresh). The scent is a bit weak IMO.
I detect an off-taste that just doesn't sit well with me. Others mention a "smokiness", and that may be what I sense but don't mistake this for a smoky/roasted flavor - it is more like a mild acridness. It does have the citrus and orange flavors that it is trying to get across but after having so many excellent American IPAs this one comes across as failing due to a harshness up front in the taste. It leaves me wondering if they have switched hop distributors or if the yeast has changed. Some light maltiness comes through but as a pale ale it is expected to be weak in that department.
Mouth fell is creamy and low in carbonation. Not too sticky. No problems there.
The original Citra from Garrison City was my introduction to American IPAs back in 2015 -- the one you see in the picture with the big green crowler is the original beer that I recall having a much more intense and alluring aroma. It was an eye-opening experience at the time. They really need to address this. I love the turbid dense look and the lacing, but the flavor is making me regrettably mark it down. Very sorry because I really want to love this brewery - the closest I have to a hometown one.

Poured from a can from the brewery dated 12/27/16.
Appearance is on par with the hazy northeast style. Murky orange with a thin head that dissipates quickly and leaves very mild lacing.
Smell is very appealing with citrus, guava, maybe some passionfruit, juicy and dank hops.
Taste follows really nicely with tropical fruit flavor in the foreground , a well balanced hop bite and some maltiness in the background.
Mouthfeel is decent but feels just a little on the under carbonated side. Very drinkable though.
Overall a very drinkable pale ale in the juicy, hazy, trendy New England style. Contrary to some of the previous reviewers I am pretty impressed with this brewery so far. Keep em coming!

Poured into a 13 oz Weyerbacher tulip glass canned on 12/06/16. Pours a very cloudy dark orange, with a two finger sticky white head that leaves excellent lace.
Smell is guava, apricot, mango, papaya, and tangerine.
Taste follows tropical start to finish, ripe lush guava, papaya, apricot, tangerine, and a wisp of grapefruit.
Mouthfeel is a big medium for its low abv, mild carbonation coats the tongue with fresh hoppy goodness, not dry, and exceptional drinkability.
Overall this is really impressive, it drinks much bigger than its ABV and is just a great North East IPA, non filtered and loaded with flavor.
