12oz bottle poured into the Southern Tier tulip. Bottled 01/14/14.
A: Pours a clear golden amber with an rocky white head on top. A lot of visible carbonation, big bubbles. Leaves some nice lacing on the sides of the glass.
S: Fruity mango citrus mosaic hops right off the bat. Bit of malts make up the backend. Could use a bit more oomph in the aroma.
T: Real nice light flavor on this one with a focus on the mosaic. The malt backbone is toasty and gives it some depth. Lots of mango or tropical fruits coming from this hop. Booze comes through a bit on the tail end.
M: Medium body with moderate carbonation. A bit resinous from the abundance of hops in this one. Nice and warming. Alcohol is well hidden in the bitterness.
Overall the single hop, single malt is really working here. Mosaic is one of my favorite hops and this beer reaffirms that belief. Any hop head should pick this one up.

Southern Tier 2XONE 2014 inaugural edition has a medium, yellowish head, a gold-orange, bubbly appearance, with powdery suspended sediment, and lots of webbed lacing left behind. The aroma is of fairly intense hop resin and underlying white bread. Taste is of even more intense hop oil, but this is not harsh or particularly strong, just noticeable. Also, the white, sweet bread is picked up. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Southern Tier 2XONE 2014 finishes puckering, easy going, and warming in the body. Overall, I don’t think this is a particularly differentiated ale, but I still recommend it.
