Southern Tier 2XONE 2014 inaugural edition has a medium, yellowish head, a gold-orange, bubbly appearance, with powdery suspended sediment, and lots of webbed lacing left behind. The aroma is of fairly intense hop resin and underlying white bread. Taste is of even more intense hop oil, but this is not harsh or particularly strong, just noticeable. Also, the white, sweet bread is picked up. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Southern Tier 2XONE 2014 finishes puckering, easy going, and warming in the body. Overall, I don’t think this is a particularly differentiated ale, but I still recommend it.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a healthy two-finger off-white head with great retention and lacing. Nice Mosaic tropical and citrus fruit hop aroma, light caramel malt, a little dank. Flavor is sweet caramel and bready malt, tropical and orange family citrus; finishes with citrus and grapefruit rind hops and lingering caramel malt. Medium bodied with some creaminess, nice mouthfeel. This is my kind of APA (I'd rate it as high as a IPA), caramel malty and nice juicy hops. Some folks like lots of hops with a light malt body and this isn't for them. I cannot think of a time when Southern Tier let me down. They tend to be a bit on the sweet side, but that works for me if there is good malt to support it, as with this ale. Really like it.

BOD 1/16/14. Pours a clear light amber (golden) with a very nice head. Sediment from the bottom is present on the final pour. Excellent lacing with normal retention. Nose of Mosaic hops (citrus, pine and light spice) over a biscuit sweetness. Medium bodied, slick and almost creamy, coupled with normal carbonation yielding a bit of effervescence on the finish. The flavor profile is a blend of hop flavor, biscuit and alcohol. It begins with classic Mosaic notes over biscuit which transitions to a moderate bitterness. The finish is smooth and leaves you with an alcohol note. Overall it is quite nice and would be outstanding if the alcohol were better constrained.

A- it pours a hazy honey gold with a fair amount of sediment and a small amount of slow rising bubbles. Thin off white head with great retention and well defined rings of lacing.

S- woah, citrus, spice, vanilla. Sounds strange, smells amazing. Lots of grapefruit and an underlying earthy spice to round it out.

T- see aroma. Lots of bright, but not bitter, citrus. Some spice, and caramel. Really good.

M- the carbonation is light, which leads to a fuller feeling IPA. Creamy. Warming finish.

O- wow. Southern Tier hit it out of the park.
