22oz bottle poured into a Southern Tier tulip. 03/1?/14 on the bottle.

A: Pours a slightly cloudy light brown with a decent mostly white head on top. Leaves some nice lacing as the head slowly dissipates.

S: Big banana like aroma up front on this beer. A solid malt backing adds a bit of breadiness to the mix. A little bit of clove brings up the rear.

T: Well rounded flavor profile smoothes everything together into a tasty blend. Starts off with the banana flavor but it isn't as strong as in the aroma. Malt comes through in the middle giving it just a hint of roastiness, chocolate and carmel. Touch of alcohol on the back-end. Slight hopping is noticeable in the aftertaste.

M: Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel from the wheat. Moderate carbonation. Finishes crisp. Alcohol is well hidden in the mouthfeel.

Overall I'm impressed with this one. Not a style that many brewers tackle and Southern Tier does it justice. Perhaps it is not as well rounded as the German variants but it can still hold a candle.

From BeerAdvocate Magazine #89 (June 2014):

Spicy, Bready, Banana, Taffy, Sweet

While the marketing for this beer may talk about the different types of malt and hops it is really the yeast that has dictated at least the dominant character. Bready malt and herbal hop meet an onslaught of banana taffy. Ripe fruity esters from the alcohol is layered over the caramel & bready malt flavor. Imperial? A term not needed here. Tasty? For sure.

Pours into a weizen glass a hazed orange tinged tea brown with a thick creamy off white head atop that left some chunks of broken lace behind as it settled slowly.Yeasty and a little medicinal in the nose, some faint phenolic smoke-like notes are there as well.A creamy feel to the beer adds to the positives, flavors are yeasty with spiced notes and some sweetness, not much banana or chocolate wich you will find in alot of the style, the alcohol is kept in check pretty well.I love Southern Tier and I really like this style,I thought this beer was "decent".

In a pilsner glass this beer was a reddish/brown color. There was a rather small head that left a little bit of lace.

Banana aroma. Sweet malt. A little bit of spice.

This beer tasted like banana bread with caramel. There was a hint of clove.

A nice enough beer. A little on the sweet side for me.

I'm on the fence whether I would want to try this again.

Pours a really interesting color. It looks like an overripe banana: brown in the center and a creamy yellow color at the edges. Light tan head that faded within 30 seconds to a thin collar. Aroma is heavy on the wheat and clove, some banana, some caramel. Taste is the same but with some nuttiness. Medium body and carbonation.

Appearance: 1/3 inch head, medium carbonation, amber in color, hazy

Smell: banana and slight Belgian spices

Taste: Big banana, breadiness, alcohol, and slight Belgian spices

Mouthfeel: sweet start with slight bitterness, medium-heavy bodied and medium carbonation

Overall: A good weizenbock. I tend to like Southern Tier's bombers and this lives up to expectations. I will get this again if I want this style.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a Brooklyn chalice.

Appearance: Pours a deep and hazy brownish amber ruby with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid two fingers of off white head that slowly fade into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a lot of lacing.

Smell: A sweet, fruity, and toasty yeast driven aroma with big hints of banana and caramel sweetness. Toasted malt with big hints of wheat, Weizen yeast, sweet caramel, toffee, biscuit, grains, straw, toast, and a slight hint of chocolate. Big scent of bananas along with some apple and bubblegum. Hints of black pepper and clove spicing. Slight hints of raisin and plum as well. A very solid bock aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a toasty, sweet, and fruity yeast driven taste with big notes of bananas and sweet caramel malt. Toasted malt along with notes of Weizen yeast, wheat, biscuit, caramel, toffee, straw, toast, grains, and some chocolate. Big fruit presence with lots of banana flavor as well as notes of apple and pear. Dark fruit undertones of raisin, fig, and plum. Notes of bubblegum along with some black pepper and clove spicing. A very good bock taste.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a fairly high level of carbonation. Fairly chewy and spicy with a dry finish.

Overall: A very solid imperial take on a Weizenbock. Good banana and yeast flavor with a nice dose of spice.

Poured into weizen glass; deep cloudy tan with golden light showing hazily through. Massive off-white head that sticks around.
Smells of soft bread, light banana and spice, and some lighter notes of fruity esters.
Tastes great. Soft bready malt, light sweetness with banana, fruit and spice, and then yeasty flavors to finish.
Mouthfeel is smooth, fluffy and full.
Overall a tasty and drinkable weizenbock. I used to not be a fan of german wheat beers, but beers like this are going to be my in-road.

On tap at The Mansion (FL). Served in a tulip glass.
Good looking.
Sweet aroma and overly sweet flavor despite some obvious hop bitterness. Lots of toffee and brown sugar with some banana and too much clove.
