Pours a hazy dark copper/chocolate brown color with Amber edges and a one finger off-white head that quickly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Sporadic spotty lacing left behind.

Intense, inviting aroma with a strong peppery spice presence that's countered by prominent sweet malt, bready yeast and citrus zest. Lots of black pepper and clove along with sweet caramel, toffee, chocolate and dark fruit. Decent bready yeast character with hints of banana and bubblegum followed by subtle orange peel sweetness.

Medium body with a zesty spice presence up front that lingers over the sweeter notes, prominent yeast and citrus sweetness into a tart, dry finish. Lots of clove and other peppery spices up front followed by hints of sourdough bread, banana and citrus. Sweet malt backbone with caramel, toffee and light chocolate followed by zesty orange peel in the finish. Doesn't quite live up to the aroma but this beer is refreshing and easy to drink with some nice flavors. I would have preferred a little more malt sweetness/silky chocolate notes to counter the heavy spice and pithy citrus.

Poured chilled in ale glasses, chez buzzlitebeer

A: copper color; thin head; good carbonation; decent lacing
S: cherry, malt aroma; yeast and banana; very inviting
T: cloves, banana; sweet malt matches the booziness; low hop profile (buttering more significant than finishing hops); very intense flavor, but not complex

Great beer to finish a session. Yes, have it, and have it again!

Appearance - clear brown color with off white head

Smell - banana, clove, caramel, grape

Taste - banana, clove, caramel, brown sugar, grape

Mouthfeel - sweet upfront, medium bodied, medium carbonation, flavors linger nicely, but I'm deducting a little bit due to the astringent nature of the finish

Overall - a very nice weizenbock, I'm glad to have picked up a bottle. My only gripe with it is the unrefined nature of the mouthfeel - otherwise, recommended

Price Point - $6.99/22 oz bottle
