Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a copper color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of mild hops, some malts. Taste is well balanced hops and malts, some bitterness, a touch of caramel. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a very drinkable, and solid beer.

Poured into sam adams custom glass, color is gold to copper, head is light tan, big bubbles and froth, about 1/2 inch thick.

Smell is subtle, but surprisingly very good malt profile and mild bitter note, Some caramely notes and stronger citrusy bitterness comes through later.

Taste is very nice strong bitter profile, a touch of caramel malt provides nice sweetness and some stronger, higher presence hops make this a unique brew. Hops are not overdone, but provide good balance to the touch of sweetness.

MOuthfeel is strongest on the tongue from the lingering bitterness, good carbonation and lasting flavors.

Overall, a very well done strong bitter style ale; the scent is subtle and flavors are pleasant and easy drinking; nice fall/winter style ale.

Crystal clean yet robust copper coloring gives way to a load of bubble through the center. The head was fizzy and had an overly carbonated look but it collared to a nice frothy thickness.

The scent is well balanced from malts to hop. Barley an grain mix well with not only a piney floral hop scent but I get some fruity grapefruit and tangerines.

The flavors, too, are well balanced. The hops seem to take over near the end but a blend of barley, grain, toast, florals, and fruits lead their way in. The end is piney and a tinge bitter and lends to feel.

Overall, I always seem to like what Southern Tier is doing and this is another example of a well made and well balanced ale.

Appearance: Pours a medium golden amber with two fingers of foamy white head that fades quickly, leaving splotchy lacing in its wake.

Smell: Pine, some oak, and some nice spiciness up front. This is followed by some sweet malt, caramel, and a touch of citrus.

Taste: Spicy up front with a load of pine and fresh hops, followed by some lemon and grapefuit, a bit of caramel.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and creamy, nice bitterness and carbonation. Goes down easily.

Overall: Yet another good beer from Southern Tier. Haven't had anything from these guys that I don't like!

Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into a Harpoon IPA glass.

a: Crystal clear amber with an inch tall white head which receded to even surface foam and spotty lacing.

s: Nothing much

t: Hops forward over light malt backbone. Enough hops to register easily but not enough to linger on the tongue very long. Actually more hoppy and less malty than any other ESB I have ever had. An American take no doubt.

m: Light. Darker color is the only hint that this is not a summer IPA.

o: Pretty good as a fall IPA, but too many other good ones out there to search this one out again.
