A - Pours a clear copper color with a one finger white foamy head. The head dissipated rather quickly but the lacing was pretty sticky.
S - Plenty of hops, which I wasn't expecting in a winter ale (winter beers tend to be rather malty from my experience). Grapefruit/citrus hops for the most part, with light caramel, nut, and biscuit notes.
T - Very sweet up front. Slightly nutty and malty and then you get hit with plenty of citrus hops. I'm tasting some vanilla here as well. Has a fruity taste to it like your standard Belgian ale. Really interesting mix of flavors and very well balanced, but a bit more bitter than most will probably expect.
M - Pretty creamy and full bodied. A bit oily and slick. Finishes dry.
D - This is a little heavy for a winter beer but I love that. Plenty of flavor and alcohol. It's an ale I want to savor so I limit myself to only a couple and move on to something else.
Overall a very unique winter beer that stands out among other winter ales, which tend to taste rather boring to me.
