Appearance: Copper-amber body with reddish highlights. Head is frothy and reddish tan. It faded quickly to a thin cap with spider-web lace.
Smell: Strong, pepper-spice hops, sweet caramel malt, hints of banana, butterscotch, and vanilla.
Taste & Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied semi-sweet malt with smoke, some mustiness and even a slightly burnt character, subdued carbonation and mellow alcohol warmth at the top... then finishes dry with a bitter/spicy aftertaste.
Drinkability: This is a decent old ale, but too hoppy IMO, and the burnt characteristics were somewhat distracting.
Serving type: bottle
