Poured into a pint glass from a 12oz bottle received in my Jan. 'beer of the month' at Sam's in Lexington, SC.
A: Clear, brownish-amber. Like a dark old penny. Nice head retention with moderate fluffy lacing.
S: Deep malty aroma of dark fruit, caramel, and sugars. Hops are not really present.
T&M: Slick mouth feel with a full body. Mainly malty, but the bitterness from the hops fall in line with the well-balanced sweetness. Some mild spiciness over some citrus and malts.
A solid winter ale for the season.
