Review #300 poured into Duvel tulip glass. . .
Appearance is a dark dense brown/black hue, thick creamy tan head dissipates to a thin ring, watery lacing quickly descends
Smell is dominated by big malts ranging from caramel to bread and roast, dark fruits, big stiff alcohol presence, tones of chocolate, grassy hops, and molasses
Taste opens with roasty chocolate malts, high alcohol presence, and brown sugar, transitions to oatmeal, coffee, dark fruit, and bitter hops, finishes with booze and syrupy sweet molasses
Mouthfeel is full-bodied, thick and chewy texture with a burning alcohol sensation, prickly and lively carbonation
Drinkability is moderate, hampered by a big alcohol presence (11%abv), but overall great malt profile with a range of complex flavors that will beat you up if you don't watch it, another solid beer from ST!
