Poured from 650ml bottle into a snifter.
Pours very dark -- almost black -- with very little head. Carbonation is minimal. Chocolate & oatmeal are the predominate scents; hints of coffee too. This beer is an utter treat to smell...I could sniff it all day!
Taste is that of overwhelming chocolate and oatmeal-y goodness. Quite smooth too -- I was completely unaware of its high (11%) ABV until standing up to toss the bottle when I was almost finished with the beer. It was at this point that I checked the beer's ABV. This thing hits you hard, but not in the head, not the palate. Very very smooth for the ABV. I'm not typically a stout guy, but I can see myself keeping a regular stash of this beer.
Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, sneakily hiding this beer's true strength. Aftertaste leaves a tiny hint of its strength, but it's well balanced for sure. Undoubtedly solid in this field.
Drinkability is quite good from a strictly mouthfeel & smoothness POV, but slightly diminished due to its strength.
Pretty darn delicious overall. And again, I'm not a stout guy.
