Bottle was part of the Southern Tier "SuperPack" variety case which included 2XIPA, Unearthly and Iniquity.

Poured and sampled from a DFH Pint Glass

A - Beer pours a slightly hazy, golden amber color. A fluffy, one-finger head on the initial pour that fades to a skim. Large amount of sticky lacing left after sampling.

S - A mix of pine, hops and malts. Smells a little on the sweet side.

T - A really smooth DIPA. The brew is well balanced between a piney, citrusy, pineapple (?) taste and the caramel-like sweetness of the malts. It's moderately hoppy and leaves a lingering bitterness after drinking. It's a thicker beer so it's not one you'll be downing several off. The ABV is well disguised but it does begin to poke through as the beer warms a bit.

M - Thicker consistency. Medium carbonation.

O - I enjoyed this DIPA quite a bit. Unlike others, I don't think it's overly sweet. It's a well crafted beer that I'd recommend to any IPA or DIPA lovers. Well done, Southern Tier!

Cheers!

Bottled 2/13/14

A- Clear, light copper. Medium head that settles quickly. Mild lacing.

S- Sweet bread, pine, lemon, pepper

T- as it smells but way too much alcohol.

M- Med/Oily

I guess I'd say I'm a little disappointed, only b/c I was looking forward to trying this one. The alcohol comes through too much.

This one pours an amber to golden tan color with a rich and creamy off white head that is super thick, very long lived and settles so slow I can wait any longer to see if it is going to lace or not. I wouldn't call what it is doing lacing as much as a time-lapse collapsing of the foam that completely coats the glass on the way down.

The nose is superb spiced hops with strong citrus and pine notes. Like an east Texas forest in the spring after a light rain.

The taste is surprisingly fruity malt that is equally dominant in what I would a binary IPA. The fruitiness is powerful but so is the bitterness of the hops. Both are powerful and well balanced for the extremes. There are subtler notes of bread, pine and I agree with the caramel and peppery notes as well that are printed on the bottle. Those are very subtle when compared to the other extremes but are definitely there

The mouthfeel is like wet silk and coats the palate nicely without being cloying. In fact this one makes me have a unnaturally intense craving for spicy boiled crawfish. I think this one would be perfect with extremely spicy food like BW3's Blazin' wings or some crawfish boiled with "Slap Ya Mama" crawfish boil.

OK, I am drooling now, have to get some heat to go with this beer.

I just had to cave and get some Slap Ya Mama and eat the boil straight. And I was right, this is a perfect beer for super spicy food. I also tried some straight BW3's Blazin' sauce and I have to admit it is awesome with either.

overall THIS IS awesome BEER. About to become a staple in my house. I can't even taste the 9.5% alcohol, but I can feel it on an empty stomach.

Damn! This is Fuckin-A great beer!
