Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. This's been sitting on the shelf a while, so I was expecting some of the aromaticity to disappear, but that's not the case at all. Anyways...
A: Good color. A transparent, ruddy red-orange. One finger of initial, pearly head dissipated almost immediately. Still, there's decent carbonation going on here.
S: A sweet, malty mess with some solid hopping. I love ST for their ingredient listing--really helps educate. From the nose, it's nicely hopped--perhaps a bit too complex. A bit floral, a bit citrus-y, but still very nice. Just a touch of alcoholic fire.
T: Not as overwhelmingly bitter as I expected. A bit of caramel and raisin, a balanced bitter finish. The booze level and the sweetness are cut nicely by the hopping.
M: This has a good resinous feel, a combo of high alcohol and hop-backing/dry-hopping--the feeling your fingers get when you rub a hop cone between them. Carbonation's about right, could maybe use a bit more.
D: Not bad, for an 11% ABV beer. Not a bitter bomb for the style, which may turn some hopheads off. Perhaps a bit too sweet, if anything.
