imperial coffee stout? ok.. you have my attention southern tier (even if you are north of me)
word to the wise: if you don't like BITTER coffee (aka Starbucks etc) you probably will not enjoy this as much as some. If you like Folgers.. er, stick to something else. This is aggressive in the coffee department.
at first I was like "eh, no head", I turn around and this sneaky bastard is reverse cascading into a beautiful deep dark foam of about one finger. as this settles down a nice lacing appears (insert legend of zelda sound in here dadadadaaaa), light can't escape this like twinkies near the black hole that is rosie odonnel's mouth. pitch black, black on black, night on dark.. this is oil after 300,000 local miles. nice looking stuff here, not perfect but some damn good points.
deep roasted aroma, like starbucks instead of dunkin', some sweetnes of a creamer or two, maybe a shot of hazlenut, really this smells like a cup of really really really good iced coffee, there are choc notes as well.. oh man, get me a new pair of hanes mr jordan...
this almost drinks like an imperialized Old Rasputin... the ABV is well cloaked save for the hint of warmth in the ole belly. Moderately thick to chewy at the end. This sticks around the mouth for awhile depositing parcels of sweetness to interplay with the dally-ers of bitterness orphaned by the swallow. the carbonation add 'pop' like the foam on a cappuccino, you know, first you get that sweet foam but then it gives way to the lovely bitter/burnt/sweetness of the coffee. this is so much like a good cup of high end joe it is scary. Don't throw Joe into the volcano, throw joe my way... this is delicious.
can I legally marry a beer if I move to vermont ? This is a great beer for coffee heads. The flavor is deep and rich... southern tier knocks it out of the park on this one (and they didn't use human growth hormones)

Bomber > Mason Pint
A - Pitch black with half a finger of fizzy tan head, a little spotty lacing.
S - Weak coffee in the aroma, maybe it just didnt take well to the aging, vanilla, dark chocolate, very sweet caramel and toffee malts.
T - Super sweet stout, this is like an imperial milk stout with more of a hinting at coffee, lots of toffee flavor in this, vanilla, milk chocolate, definitely alcohol too.
M - Cloyingly sweet, viscous, silky.
O - Decent, but not what I remember it being like, I'm thinking it just didnt age well, but ohh well, thats the last I'll be having of this.
