Can't understand why people hate on this one so badly. Its a nice beer! Actually doesnt have that jolly rancher taste like many raspberry beers have. Has the nice tartness of the real raspberry. Also has some nice hop tones to give it some bitterness. The hop aroma even comes through. Crystal clear easy to drink.

A newer release from ST thats starting to show up around Buffalo on tap I had this yesterday at Mammoser's here in Hamburg.Pours a dul lighter golden with quite a thin head, toasty wheat malt and fresh raspberry puree are pretty much on an even keel (spelling?) in the nose they meld pretty well.Refreshing would be a word to describe this brew it really should be a summer seasonal lightly tart from the raspberry with a dryish cracked what malt base again they go in harmony with each other. Not a style I go for much but its new and ST is local I gave it a try and its not half bad.

A - Pale yellow with lots of bubbles and a thin white head.

N - Candied raspberry, grass, pale malt.

T - Bland, grassy with some sweet, damp wheat but only minimal raspberry.

M - Bubbly but dull. Light bodied. Wet.

D - Low.

Not a bad beer at all but I have no interest in it. Save this for your buddy's Bud Light silling girl friend. It might suit her.

A very light--hardly yellow--color greets me upon the pour. Fizzy at first, it quickly dissipates to a thin, sparse, filmy type of partial covering. Even for a pale wheat, it looks weak. Though not expecting much, you're not getting much in the way of looks here.

The smell is solid. It's distinctly--but not overwhelmingly--raspberry. There's really nothing else to it, but it does taste more au natural than others I've encountered.

It tastes pleasing. It's a raspberry ale you want, and it's a raspberry ale you get. Like the smell, it's nothing special or overly complex. Might be a bit overcarbonated, and the ale aspect could be more substantive. It's not far from a raspberry-infused alcoholic water. Relative to other pale wheat ales, therefore, it's a step above.

Mouthfeel is weak because it's so watery, and it's annoying because it's so fizzy. The raspberry sensation certainly makes a nice mark, but no other component of this beer offers anything desirable. Even for a fruit beer, I wish there was more to it.

Drinkability is okay--like I said, the taste is pleasing, but.... It's worth trying, particularly if you're into the fruit beer thing; I am, but I won't be pursuing it anytime soon.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: It has a light yellow straw color with a white fluffy head. Its head fades out quickly and leaves little to no lace on the glass.

Smell: The aroma has a raspberry syrup scent with light wheat notes.

Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor has a thin grainy malt taste with a heavy raspberry flavor that tastes like it was sweetened with artificial sweetener. The body is light with a fuzzy mouth feel and fizzy carbonation.

Notes: This was just a little off balance for me. The body didn't support the sweetness very well. However it is light and effervescent making it good for hot summer days.

Pours a light, yellow-tan that’s clear with very little head. Looks like an average beer, nothing special about the appearance of this one. Smells like raspberry syrup. Tastes like artificial raspberry flavoring, not necessarily bad but not as good as some other fruit beers. The flavor fades quickly and it ends up being a little watery. Refreshing and a decent flavor, just doesn’t last very long and has very little mouthful flavor, all the raspberries are upfront and then end is more watery and flavorless. I realize this is supposed to be a “wheat beer”, but I’m not getting any wheat in here anywhere. Decent to drink but nothing special and there are better widely available fruit beers.

Appearance: medium carbonation, 1/4 inch head, clear, pale yellow

Smell: tart raspberries

Taste: sweet and tart raspberries, hops, and a twinge of metal

Mouthfeel: smooth, light, semi-bitter--semi-sweet

Drinkability: Very disappointing...Founders Rubeaus is the king of this style and this one does not measure up...It makes for an ok summer beer, but has a different aftertaste. I would sooner grab another fruit beer over this. I much prefer this Southern Tier's raspberry porter.

traded a SN celebration for this at a party last night in my quest to review all southern tier beers.

12oz bottle pulled from my fridge poured into a hefe glass. no freshness date.

pours out a super clear pale yellow, slightly golden color. one finger of pure white soapy, creamy head with some average retention. bits of sticky lace. tons of rushing bubbles.

the aroma is almost all sweet raspberries, a little tart smelling. slightly medicinal.

sweet, slightly tart raspberries are the main player with some grains in the background. watered down.

very light bodied, over carbonated.

drinkability is really good. a one demonsional beer, but it would go down like water on hot sumer days. i could see my girlfriend enjoying this quite a bit.

as far as fruit wheat beers go, its pretty good, but i couldnt see myself ever buying this.

Clear light straw color with a small head that laces, the beer also displays active carbonation. Wonderfully sweet rasberry aroma very noticable. You can also catch honey and wheat in the aroma and maybe the slightest hops. In a blind smell test you would know this is a berry drink. Taste is light and crisp, like a lager and if your patient you can start to make out the berry flavor. There’s no hops to this but the taste is so light it doesn’t call for it. Its a suble fruit beer and in the end, it satisfies on a 90 degree day.

Well, I guess not everyone digs Amarillo hops in the American wheat so it must have been time to cater attempt their first fruit beer with this Raspberry Wheat. Appears an extremly pale golden haze with bright white head forming nice and thick has a creamy appearance to it with ample even specks of lace dispersed with each sip. Aroma tart raspberry action of course sharp wheat tone mild spiciness with a touch of citrus no real hop note for me I'm just catching raspberry. Flavor some musty wheat sharpness with raspberry mild tartness comes light and airy at first then the raspberries take over and really stick around in the finish kinda double edge b/c it does grow on you but it also gets old quick. Mouthfeel is spritzy in the carbonation department with a light bodied ready for the summer definite attraction the palate sticks around and finishes dry. Drinkability is okay but not what I'm looking for especially from one of my all time breweries better than most syrupy examples but still just okay.

(Served in a flute)
A- This beer pours a hazy lemon pale yellow body with a thin wispy white head that is soon gone and a gentle carbonation of big bubbles pop to the surface.

S- The fresh raspberry aroma mixes with field corn in the finish and is a bit 1-dimensional.

T- The dry almost astringent taste leads to raspberry in the finish with a sulfur dry bite that takes on a lemon pith note as it opens up.

M- The light mouthfeel has a scrubbing fizz that dries out the finish more.

O- This beer has a pleasant aroma that is a bit 1-dimentional but the taste is very light and a bit dry and harsh with no real malt or raspberry character coming through.

poured from a 12oz/355mL bottle into the tallest glass my kitchen set came with.

pale straw with no haze or particulate present. definately filtered. almost non-existent to begin with head becomes non-existent after finishing the pour. no lacing.

aroma of raspberry jam on first impression. as the beer warms, a very artificial note becomes evident.

immediate hit of raspberry on the palate, with a medicinal aftertaste. it's not that bad at first, but as the beer warms the medicinal gets worse. somewhat reminiscent of alcopop or smirnoff raspberry twist vodka. finish this one quickly.

watery and thin mouthfeel. as a summer seasonal, this beer seems to hit the mark in that respect.

despite the harsh & medicinal quality of this beer, i did find it very easy to drink. it's cold and wet, and on a hot enough day i'd pound this back quickly enough that it wouldn't warm too much. it's like lawnmower beer for people who normally drink coolers.

A- The color of a normal light beer with a hint of orange color in it.

S- It has a stong wheat raspberry smell to it. I like the smell alot!

T-The taste is very good from start to finish. Its not something I want to drink more than 2 of though.

M- Had a decent head for a bottle which gave it pretty good feel once you drank it. It went down smooth as it could.

O- pretty amazing stuff, my fav by southern tier.

I like how incredibly normal/macro this looks...but I'm also conditioned to become pessimistic when a beer pours out this piss-yellow with such insane clarity. The head was nice while it lasted, and leaves some tiny lace trails. Looks either like a crappy corporate stinker or a classic Czech pils. Obviously it will taste like neither.

Aroma gives a light touch of raspberry, quite obvious and not artificial-smelling. Little else gets through. As long as you don't expect much and you like raspberries, this will at least rate an "okay".

The first sip of this is always great. Big vanilla cookie-dough goodness wrapped around a pretty big hit of authentic raspberry flavor. Seems almost indulgent. But as you soldier on, it lacks stamina, failing to impress, sometimes seeming merely like a tasty beer lacking any real depth. It gets old, basically. It remains doughy, it remains fruity, but there's a metallic note that creeps in more with each sip, and by the end it seems that more malt/wheat would've really helped balance this beer.

The feel is quite nice, giving a firm, somewhat creamy and definitely tingly texture that carries the flavor through nicely.

There's no denying its drinkability. It's not bad, offensive, poorly-crafted or carelessly thrown out there for the indiscriminate masses. It's just not the wallop we've come to expect from Southern Tier. Then again, you can't drink Jah-va and Unearthly every day either. This is sort of like their #9, if you know what I mean. Give it a shot.

The brewery brought this in to the Buffalo Racetrack brewfest. Lagerish mouthffel and taste, with added injected flavour. Bubbly head and lace. Pale colour. More sweet than hoppy. Passable. I don't like fruit beers in general and this is a good example.

Heheh, I was actually expecting this to be pink! Pours a clear gold with a light head, which dissipates fairly quickly. Spotting lacings.

Aroma is all raspberries. I'll disagree with the majority of reviewers and say it actually smelled pretty nice.

This was actually alot less fruit-centered than I expected. From the way it was described by alot of people, I was expecting raspberry kool-aid, but I actually got more grain than fruit and some noticeable wheat flavours. The fruit, however, was not exactly pleasant. Kind of artificial and the beer had an unpleasant metalling twang to it.

Mouthfeel very thin, but it's mostly me just disliking the American wheat style.

Very drinkable. It was a fine beer post-dog walking on a sunny day. Didn't hate it.

Pours a pale copper with loose, thin head that fades quickly. The nose is purely raspberries; sweet and tart. The taste is pale malt with sweet but fainter than anticipated raspberries. The mouthfeel is light and moderately carbonated.

I was expecting something a little fuller-flavored and a little more tart. Unfortunately, this one didn't hit the mark for me, but it's from ST so it was worth a try.

Shared by schen9303. Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a weizen glass.

A: Gentle pour yields a 2.5 finger fluffy white head with moderate retention. Beer is a clear yellow with a slight orange tint. Lacing is subtle but pretty with nice stick.

S: A nose full of raspberries and nothing else. This is a wheat beer imitating a fruit beer... at least in the smell. No hint of hoppiness or wheat odors as the strong raspberries overshadow everything else.

T: Big raspberry fruit flavors upfront that dissipates quickly to be replaced by a subtle... nothing really. A little hop bitterness here and there but this tastes more like crushed raspberry seeds than anything else. A bit watered down but at least the finish here, though messy, is quick and dissipates promptly.

M: Light bodied, moderately coarse, and highly carbonated. Watery and lively in the mouth this feels as it should. Finish is messy but as stated, lingers for just a bit with none of the wheat flavors in the aftertaste.

D: A good warm day beer, this is nothing special though its not a poor representation of the style. A little watered down but that's about the only complaint. Not much to see here but if you're just looking to sit, relax, and have a drink on a hot summer day, then this'll suffice. Don't expect much else and you won't be dissapointed.

Appearance: It's very clear and light golden in color. Head is foamy white and about a finger deep. Virtually no retention or lacing to talk about.

Smell: Very sweet rasberry aroma dominates. Almost New York Seltzer-ish. It smells grainy or earthy. Very light caramel malts come through. Not picking up any hops.

Taste: The sweet rasberry flavor comes through loud and clear. Here it's reminiscent of rasberry New York Seltzer too. Very light malt flavors are notable and add more sweetness. It is grainy, but it's barely noticeable in taste. Hops are not noticeable here either.

Mouthfeel/Drinkability: It's light bodied. Carbonation is okay and it goes down easy enough. If it weren't so sweet, I'd be inclined to drink more. But, I'd be hard pressed to have more than one. Overall, it's okay but doesn't work well as a beer in my opinion. It's just too sweet and candy-like. Definitely not something I'd seek out again.

355ml bottle purchased from the International Beer Shop and poured into a Redoak tulip glass.

Light golden, see-through appearance, pouring with one-finger of foam with compact white bubbles.

The aroma is a real syrupy raspberry, a little over the top when it comes to smell.

Syrupy fruity sweetness dominates the flavours to come through out of this one. Struggling to pick up any real wheat beer flavours amongst the syrupy sweetness.

Mouthfeel is more akin to a lager than a wheat beer.

While i generally go into bat for Southern Tier brews in any beer discussion, i find it hard to stand up for this one. Too much dominated by a syrupy smell and sweet taste.

From my notebook.

A- Bright, clear yellow, little to no head at all.

S- Raspberries dominate with some grass and grain.

T- Husky and grainy with subtle raspberry presence. Not bad and very refreshing.

M- Light and high carbonation.

D- Very drinkable for a pool beer, or for the ladies, just not my speed.
