22oz brown bomber. Pours a slightly chill-hazed, rich golden colored beer, crowned with a super creamy, white foam head with some great stick and retention.
Big, earthy, raw, floral, definitely dry-hopped aroma w/ a spicy herbal back and notes of candy and toasty malts. Mild esters initially, but they become a bit more pronounced--fruity and floral--later. Alcohol is lurking, but indeed there.
Nice hop bite upfront, beneath a creamy and smooth palate and medium-body. Hop character is a bit prickly, spicy, herbal, with a slight resiny stick and underlying citric and pronounced floral presence. Grassy at times. Crisp wheat edge, with some husky tannins as things warm. Some fruity esters in the middle. Bready malts follow, with a hint of caramel in a candy-like sweetness that segues into a peppery alcohol finish that teeters on boozy; warming. Very bready in the finish, with powdery malts, hay, some residual sweetness and hop spiciness. Dry, but not overly.
Interesting brew. Perhaps more of a Wheatwine, maybe? I'll leave that up to Southern Tier. Big, but delicate. Complex, but overall pretty damn well-balanced. Hops are well-played, distinct, but never overwhelm. That 8% is well-hidden too.
This redefines the standard, and often boring, American wheat summer seasonal, but it's certainly not as sessionable. Most definitely worth a try.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but probably over 3 years old. Pours hazy golden orange color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of honey, wheat, bread, light caramel, grapefruit, orange, floral, grass, pepper, clove, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of malt and hop notes; with solid strength. Some light oxidation is present, but not bad. Taste of honey, wheat, bread, light caramel, floral, orange, grapefruit, grass, pepper, clove, and earthy yeast spiciness. Good amount of earthy pepper spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of honey, wheat, bread, citrus, floral, grass pepper, clove, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Light oxidation present in the taste as well, but not bad. Very nice balance of malt and hop flavors; with good malt/spiciness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this a very good imperial wheat beer, even with the age. Good balance of malt, hop, and spicy flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
