Poured into an Evolution pint glass. Blurred bottled-on date on the bottom.
A- Dark amber with a paper-thin head that disappears to nothing within a minute. Liquid sticks to the glass but not for long. Hardly any bubbles even when I swirl it.
S- Heavy, wet graham cracker with loads of cinnamon, nutmeg and other sweet spices. More graham cracker. More graham cracker. I'm not complaining, but man does this smell like graham cracker!
T- Graham cracker, of course, followed by a plethora of sweet flavors: cinnamon again, brown sugar, cotton candy, maple syrup, ginger, nutmeg, a bit of clove, a hint of chilies and an alcohol burn that's present but expected. Doesn't keep me from taking multiple sips in a row. The only thing that's disappointing is there's hardly any pumpkin flavor to be sensed which wasn't true for past editions I've had of this beer.
M- The variety of flavors dance on my palate and excites my tongue on their own. Carbonation doesn't seem to be a key player in the execution of this one since, even when I swish it in my mouth, I don't feel the effervescence of CO2.
O- So it may be like drinking candy or a soda and therefore it's not "real beer" but it's a f*ckin great beverage and that's all I care about. If you haven't had this yet, you have to try it whether or not you're a fan of pumpkin beer or beer in general.
