Out of all the Pumpkin Ales I have ever tried this has been my favorite. Where most Pumpkin Ales tend to be malt heavy and light on the pumpkin taste and spices, Pumking is the exact opposite.
Not only is the aroma a heavy blend of pumpkin and spice, but so is the taste. It is a very smooth beer and easy to drink, with a slightly dry aftertaste that makes you want to drink more.

Thanks to mjw52 for providing this in a trade.
Poured from a 22oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: This doesn't look spectacular. An orangish hue with a small white bubbly head. It has little retention just a small ring that sticks to the sides.
S: Wow. This may be the best smelling beer I've ever had let alone a pumpkin beer. It smells exactly like a pumpkin pie with the crust and whipped cream and all. Cloves, cinnamon, allspice, vanilla, and other spices round out the aroma.
T: The taste is similar to the taste, but slightly muted compared to the aroma. All the flavors are there, but not as bold. Pumpkin pie, crusts, vanilla, cinnamon, etc. Very good.
M: Medium to light bodied with limited carbonation. It finishes kind of thin for my liking.
O: This is by far the best pumpkin beer I've had so far. I wish I could get this in California more often. Superb.

On tap at the Cask, Pimlico Feb '12.
Hazy dark orange in colour almost verging on a light 'rusty' brown akin to the canal by the railway line in Kidsgrove, Staffs (that might mean something to someone !?!?!).
Smells sweet, spiced, cloves, a little pumpkin but not too so in my opinion, maybe some ginger in there?
Lots of flavours combine in this complex beer. Butterscotch, Pumpkin and sweet popcorn were the 3 headline flavours, these were backed up by nutmeg, clove, ginger, syrup and other spices.
Mouthfeel was bang on, medium leaning to full in body, limited carbonation and a warming feeling as you digested!
Overall I'd never particularly enjoyed any offerings from this style before having visited the states in late October '05, when plenty were on tap and all 'whelmed' me and nothing more. That said these were all typically 5 to 6ish % ABV and this beast at 8.6% really did the job for me.
Definately one to revisit from time to time!
