This became my go to pumpkin ale in October. I have only had it via growler so I can't vouch for the taste from any other container.

The smell of the beer is exactly like pumpkin pie. I'm not a great reviewer of beers but the taste was a little bit of a let down after such a great initial opening experience. The aftertaste is good, clean and spicy.

At over 8% abv it is a little heavy but still remains my favorite pumpkin ale. I can't wait until next fall!

Presentation: Bottle is very decorative with awesome graphics on the front and wealth of info on the back including a story about the beer, detailed info on the beer, proper glassware. Everything is painted on. Very nicely done!!!

Appearance: Poured out of a 22 oz. bomber into a 16 oz. Goblet as recommended on the bottle. Pours out a copper amber color with a 1 finger cream white foam head. Head retention minimal sticking around about a 1 min before fading into a thin foam ring. Lacing was OK.

Smell/Aroma: Smells of fresh baked pumpkin pie with hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. A definite vanilla scent is also very detectable. Smell is delicious!!

Flavor/Taste: Taste is right on point. Tastes of fresh pumpkin pie with the cinnamon and nutmeg right up front and a custard/vanilla taste coming through about mid way. A homemade biscuit-like crust flavor is also very detectable as this warms. Not much for hops but they are definitely there as an underlying bitterness can be tasted. Alcohol is masked very well. Maybe a bit much in the spice department for me but I wont complain much.

MouthFeel/Drinkability: Medium bodied with a fair amount of carbonation. This is a very drinkable beer although at 8.6% you may be a bit tipsy after a couple of these.

Overall/Comments: Very solid beer with a great flavor/smell profile. Maybe a bit much on the spices IMO but still one of the better pumpkin ales that I have had. Classified as a Pumpkin Ale at 8.6% ABV(label states this is Imperial). Consumed 11/22/12

Poured into a goblet

A- pours a bright golden color with some orange hue a a decent size foamy white head that quickly reduces leaving short lasting lace.

S- I had heard that this one smells like a real pumpkin pie, and I agree! The malt smells so identical to a graham cracker crust it is rediculous. The cinnamon and nutmeg are there, but the maltiness takes center stage on the aroma. Of the dozens of pumpkin beers I've had, none come this closes to smelling like pumpkin pie.

T- that graham cracker aroma follows into an identical taste. The malts provide a crisp wheaty, crackery backbone. This transitions into the pumpkin flavors. Notes ofnutmeg, clove, and cinnamon. The pumpkin is there and has more of a creamy pumpkin taste too it, which provides the 'pie' taste. The finish is slightly sweet-yet-dry with a malty linger on the palate.

M- medium body, low carbonation, slightly creamy mouthfeel with with a smooth finish.

O- I've tried a lot of pumpkin beers and this one differentiates itself from all others. It has a unique taste and is an awesome holiday beer. This one is very easy to drink, but to be enjoyed slowly.
