Very nice light golden color with a nice head poured into a dogfish head goblet. There is minimal smell, I expected some more hops scent in the smell but barely notice anything. It's almost more of a malty smell. The taste is good, but again the hop impact is less than expected. It definitely has a strong hop flavor, I just expected more. It is sweet and has the flavor of mango mixed with caramel and orange. The aftertaste is smooth and refreshingly tart. Seems like it would be great with some spicy food. The beer is very drinkable, I don't sense the alcohol flavor as much as some other beers of this potency. I recommend giving this one a try. Southern Tier beers are good and this one doesn't let you down.

A: deep gold/pale amber ale - clear - topped with a full head of off-white foam; modest lace trails
S: muted aromas of citrus and tropical fruits; some caramel-esque sweetness
T: got some pine resin and grapefruit, toffee-sweet, earthy; not too bitter - rather moderate
M: decent carbonation, slick and smooth, medium weight, bittering close
O: decent, but didn't really catch my attention - seems like this "American strong ale" genre is rather amorphous - never know what you're gonna get - this had some DIPA characteristics, but was a little thinner in body, and even with all the hops involved, wasn't overpoweringly hoppy. An enjoyable ale, but lacking the allure to bring me back for another. Seeing as how my review is below the average, this may simply be a case of a style that, while broad, isn't (typically) to my particular tastes.
Saw two entries for this ale - hope I chose the right one.
