A: Black with a reddish/brown tinge when held up to direct light. Minimal foam head that appears a creamy tan colour, with some spotty lacing down the glass.
S: Wow! Very pleasing to the nose. Lots of dark chocolate (reminds me of Hersheys syrup), caramel-like malts, lots of vanilla, and some dark fruits. Alcohol very well hidden considering the ABV.
T: Intense chocolate syrup and vanilla taste, but doesn't have an artificial quality to it but rather more natural. Still can't believe how much chocolate is in this, but yet it's not overbearing with the other flavours coming through- Dark fruits, caramel, bittersweet molasses, and anise. Alcohol remains well hidden in the taste.
M: Thick and rich body with an appropriate level of carbonation. Oily and velvety texture that is agreeing with me. A tad bit of smoke in the finish.
D: A great Imperial Stout that I'd highly recommend for any chocolate stout lover out there. Unlike some other stouts, the heavy chocolate component is complimented nicely with a variety of other robust flavours.
