Served on Christmas eve in the brewer's tulip-shaped glass at Parklane Tavern in Virginia as part of their Monday Steal the Glass promotion. Paired with their bread pudding dessert.
A: Very dark brown/ black, with tall, cream-colored head that lasted for 10-15 minutes. Beautiful Belgian lace lined inside of glass for the entire 30 minute session.
S: Warm, bittersweet chocolate aroma, coffee notes
T: Amazing chocolate taste-- sweet at first, with hints of nougat (like a 3 Musketeers or Milky Way), then finishing bittersweet, with familiar coffee roastiness characteristic of Imperial Stouts. Some warming from the alcohol, but not overly pronounced like some stouts and strong ales. Very balanced.
M: Balanced-- not too thin, but not too chewy. Perfect!
O: Excellent sipping beer to accompany a chocolate / caramel type dessert. The bread pudding I had brought out more of the beer's bitterness. Wonderful!
Serving type: on-tap
