Poured some of the content from the 750ml bottle into a Chalice.
A: very dark brown, almost black body with think layer dark brown superficial head that dissipated very quickly. No lacing present.
S: this beer smells like somebody dropped a bar of milk chocolate inside your glass. Malts are also present along with some sweet caramel notes and a bit of vanilla. The smell is not as strong or sweet compared to the other sweet offering from Southern Tier BC Creme de Brulee.
T: just like the nose, the taste is not as sweet as I was expecting. Chocolate (leaning towards dark) is the predominant taste followed by roasted malts and a slight hint of dark cherries. Good disguise of the alcohol in the taste.
M: smooth feel, medium to full body with just about the right amount of carbonation.
O: after trying and falling in love with Southern Tier's Creme de Brulee, I was very excited to give Choklat a chance since it's known to be a sweet dessert beer. While this brew is excellent, it didn't live up to my high expectations. Regardless, this is a very interesting and enjoyable beer; highly recommended.
