Bottle. Started at 45d. I was not a fan of this beer. The best thing thing about it to me is the strong and inviting chocolate aroma. It's there up front at the start and remains present throughout. But there is also a strong alcohol presence in both the smell and taste that overrides the nice chocolate. At 10% ABV the booze overpowers the chocolate and anything else. Not sure what to pair this with other than dessert. I would much rather have the fantastic Organic Chocolate Samuel Smith at half the alcohol and exponentially more flavorful and enjoyable.

P- Wegmans in mechanicsburg, PA

A- dark black with no light penetrating through. A light tan head head that is a half finger but hangs around a bit. A splotchy lacing on the glass that is aromatic in itself.

S- Chocolate fudge!!! oh my this is inviting. toffee malt as well.

F- taste is exact same as nose.

M- creamy and medium bodied. fudge on back end and goes down fairly smooth.

O- a very good imperial stout and this is worth a case!!

Pours a dark black with a thin tan head and no lacing. Lots of dark chocolate sits pleasantly in the nose. Dark chocolate again in the taste with a slightly bitter aftertaste, but the same you get from actual dark chocolate so it makes sense. Incredibly smooth mouth feel.

Taste fatigue sets in pretty quickly, so I recommend sharing this one of you get the bomber.

Split between two snifters from a 22 oz bottle

Color is black, nearly opaque. Thin tan head with minimal retention. Some lacing . Smell is chocolate fudge. It really dominates the aroma, drowning any competing smells. Taste is similar - chocolate fudge, finished with bittersweet chocolate. The bitter finish helps to balance this sweet beer.

I liked the look, lace, head, body and aroma; however, while the initial taste was a subtlety sweet taste, which I enjoyed, it had a sort of less-than-satisfying aftertaste. Still a quality stout.

22oz bomber poured into nonic. Shared with friends over a game of Cities and Knights. Silky thick pour yields a thin tan head that quickly fades to nothing. Very dark brown with lighter edges. Unsurprisingly, the aroma is dominated by chocolate both sweet and dark. There’s also some malt, vanilla, and leafy hop aromas. The taste is again dominated by chocolate: milk chocolate sweetness, some bitter bakers chocolate, cocoa powder, and fudge. An enjoyable earthy leaf bitterness cuts through and marries up to vanilla, roasted malt, and espresso. Medium body, thick velvety slick texture, low to moderate carbonation (more than the appearance indicates), slightly drying on the finish with a bit of alcohol burn.

I LOVED this stout!! We look at beer review guidelines/facts and base our reviews along those categories which is essential for accurate beer reviews... but in essence the most important category is ones personal preference. This beer is perfect for me.

Appearance - Very dark brew, with ruby red tint when held to light.

Smell - Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate

Taste - Powerful chocolate flavor upfront. Some coffee bitterness. Very sweet beer.

Mouthfeel - Medium body, low carbonation. Very silky, creamy.

Overall - Perfectly flavorful, very enjoyable sweet stout!! DO GIVE THIS A TRY

Appearance - Pours near black with a deep ruby brown color where light can penetrate. The head is a shade of cocoa powder and peaks at a finger's width before methodically receding to a thin, consistent layer of suds across the top.

Smell - Chocolate fudge cake batter. Pure fudge batter... with a hint of booze once warmed.

Taste - Chocolate upfront and throughout, comparable to a chocolate cake with fudge frosting. Light hints of roasted malt begin to creep in by mid-taste, along with dark chocolate notes, then a bitter coffee roast finish and some boozy astringency.

Mouthfeel - Medium to full body with low carbonation. Silky texture before a drying finish.

Overall - Amazingly delicious and one hell of a dessert beer. Not quite on the level of Rogue's Double Chocolate Stout, but that's no knock, and it's not far behind. Was received in a trade, but I'll definitely have to keep an eye out the next time I'm in Oregon, as it's distributed there.

L: Pours very dark brown with a cream tan head with large bubbles.

S: Milk chocolate and malt! Very creamy smelling!

T: Creamy milk chocolate with dark malt and baker's chocolate, mainly. There's a sweet toffee taste to it thoughout that really breaks up the chocolate. It kind of fizzles to a bit of Coffee at the end.

M: Med-heavy without a lot of carbonation. It's just heavy enough without being too heavy or cloying. Very smooth and velvety.

O: Solid offering, but not as balanced as I'd like; it kind of dies at the end when compared to the glorious start.

Well the name doesn't lie. Picture a giant chocolate cake punched you in the mouth, well this is it. An extremely dark beer since it is basically a giant sack of chocolate melted into a bottle. I am not a big fan of chocolate so this wasn't my style, but I can appreciate why people would like it as it was smooth and I enjoyed one. Felt like brushing my teeth immediately after

From a bomber into an Alesmith Goblet.

L- Scary dark. Minimal head that fades quickly leaving no trace of it's existence.

S- Ummmm, chocolate.

T- Well.....chocolate. Dark chocolate, white chocolate, bitter baking chocolate and maybe some fudge. Starts off sweet and finishes bitter.

F- Nothing at all.

O- A bit one-dimensional...but hey, that dimension is chocolate!! Would probably be great over vanilla ice cream.

On tap in a Chimay goblet at the Wurst Place, Seattle. Chocolate chocolate and more chocolate. This beer tastes like they melted a Hershey bar in the glass. Aroma is chocolate and vanilla. Best chocolate beer ever. I'm not sure I want this more than once every three years but hey it's fun stuff. Mouthfeel is very smooth. The bartender suggested a scoop of ice cream would go well with this beer. Hops? Who needs hops?

A - Pours black with a beautiful 1/2" tan head that settles to a tan cap.
S - Wonderful chocolate aroma!
T - Solid chocolate flavor, slightly bitter finish.
M - Great mouth feel, nice and chewy, beer sticks to your mouth for a good long time.
O - I love this beer. This not is not just a 1 glass desert beer, I had no trouble finishing the bomber by myself in an hour. Very drinkable. I need to go buy some more.

Absolute chocolate bomb. Delicious but not something I want to drink often. Very similar to Rogue Double Chocolate in its utter lack of subtlety.

Thin, quickly dissepating, light brown head. Dark brown to black body with sleight red hugh to edges. Aroma of rich cocoa and dark chocolate. Light carbonation and boozy up front, carbonation fades to dark chocolate syrup, dark roasted malts and smooth mouth feel. Slight coffee notes, medium/heavy body, slight bitter spice from hops. Overall a great beer.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Dark, black, light brown head
S: Dark chocolate/coffee
T: Like dark belgian chocolate with a bit of stout mixed in
M: Silky and smooth
O: I won't rate many stouts on here as I don't care for the style, but I tried this one at a friend's house and I loved it. Definitely needs to be enjoyed slowly. Stout characteristics are more prominent at colder temps, but the chocolate increased as it approached room temperature. Didn't bother to cool it at all for my second tasting, chocolate flavor perfectly balanced. Great for a cold day to sip on. Will buy again next year!

Smells entirely like a chocolate bar, and tastes like a chocolate bar cut with some alcohol.
