Pours a deep dark brown and has some lighter brown hues at the edges of the glass. Scant head of chocolate colored foam that fell fast but leaves great legs to look at as you drink. Nose is every shade of chocolate. Chocolate, fudge, chocolate syrup, chocolate brownies, cocoa nibs, sweet and bitter chocolate. The roast takes a back seat in the nose but does give up a faint hint of espresso. There's a bit of hop character on the nose and as this warms you will notice a berry like fruit in the form of a subtle lightness.

Taste is an explosion of chocolate. Rich belgian style chocolate. The roast has a big toasted character and comes forward as much as it can but seems drowned out by all the chocolate. It's deep and willful though and in the end it shows a nice grain with a touch of blackness and bitter of it's own. The roast is endless and is trying to reach infinity with the endless chocolate. The mouthfeel is silky, creamy and smooth. There is no alcohol on the nose and only a enough on the palate to make it delightfully boozy and warming. The carbonation is perfection and tickles the palate. This beer is sweet. It develops a bit of caramel as it warms and to the delight of the palate a duo of chinook and williamette hops lend a graceful bitter to the long and satisfying finish.

Southern Tier has gone crazy for chocolate and has made a stout that will satisfy your every fantasy about chocolate.

Pours black. Two fingers tan head with nice retention.

Aroma of bitter bakers chocolate. Sugary sweetness on the nose as well.

Taste is bittersweet chocolate, malt and sugary sweetness. Slight roastiness.

Medium mouthfeel and carb.

Quite a nice beer. Big on the sweetness but doesn't overpower. A great value at under 8

Poured from a 650 ml bottle into a snifter.

A: Black. Pours a 1 finger, bubbly, brown head. Settles pretty quickly leaving a smattering of bubbly carbonation on the surface. Spotty, yet persistent lacing.

S: A little roasted malt grains, but prominent amount of dark chocolate.

T: Dark bittersweet chocolate, balanced with a bit of pungent peat.

M: Thick and hearty. Pungent finish lingers on the palate. High alcohol is apparent, although not boozy.

D: Sip and savor.

Atmosphere is really nice. Fair head, and persistent light lacing. Chocolate aspect is very pronounced, some roasty grain notes. Bittersweet dark chocolate rules the day, there is a bit of pungency to cut the sweetness. Overall, this is a really good quaff.

Appearance is pitch black with a one finger thick mocha head.
Aroma is a chocolate covered marshmallow.
Best chocolate smelling beer I've tried by far.
Flavor is milk chocolate up front with bittersweet and dark chocolate bitterness on e back end. Super complex for a chocolate beer.
Mouthfeel is thick and creamy, perfectly carbonated.
This is beer chocolate milk. Incredible.

Was hammered at Surf Club when I tried this. Went down smooth like a thick yoohoo. Heavy on the chocolate, would make an awesome beer float. You could pour this on your ice cream. Puked everywhere about 3 hours later. Dont drink a bunch of these with Jameson.
