2010 bottle...

A - Pours a lovely dark brown body, with a nice creamy light-brown head. Very nice lacing and decent head retention (which is a pleasant surprise for such a strong beer).

S - Chocolate, chocolate, and yet more chocolate! Also hints of licorice, prunes, dates, and vanilla. Maybe a sliiight alcohol note there in the aroma.

T - First I get a more dark chocolate kind of flavour, together with a nice roastiness, which is then followed by an intense sweetness and a more creamy milk chocolate type of taste. The finish brings me back to the more bitter (yet still sweet) feel, with lingering dark chocolate and prune notes. All in all, this is as chocolatey as it gets! After a while, it begins to remind me of those liqueur-filled chocolates, as the beer gives you a nice warming feel.

M - I wouldn't say the mouthfeel is thick, but it's pretty dense. Your palate will be under siege from the intense choklat'ness of this beer. The texture is very smooth, almost silky. Despite the slight booziness it is super drinkable.

O - I'm not sure if this is the best chocolate stout ever, but it is easily the best Dessert beer I've tried! Highly recommended!

World-wide sweet-toothed you´ve got it!! On-tap.Shaker glass.Enjoyed on mar´12.Black in color, black to the light.Dark beige froth.Creamy lasting crown.Nice lacing rings.Every expected aroma is well hidden by an intense sweet chocolate fragancy. Smooth sweet upfront. Then fudge chocolate explosion.Full & dense body.Silky sweet palate, sweet buttery notes.Wonder if raisin & prune hues will be present at a very deep level... Just an illusion! Nothing but dense chocolate swamping all over while lingers to the end.Soft carbonation.A flavorful delicious beer for all those who believe they don´t like beer.4 points are given to palate box since it´s really difficult to maintain a balanced flavor while masking hops, malts & ABV. Suggested as a 5 o´clock beer.Excellent pairing with danish butter cookies.

Brief re-write of an old review. While this is still a great beer - with one HELL of a chocolaty aroma - it doesn't hold the same luster as it used to. It's still one of the best chocolate showcases of any beer on the market, however its lack of depth and sugar-laden finish can make it a bit wearisome after a while. Even half a bottle is far too sweet, and the overly thin texture doesn't help it out. This is still immensely enjoyable, especially considering it's as drinkable as a super-sweet, 10% dessert beer will ever be.

---

A: Pours an extremely dark body that looks a little thinner than one might expect. I like how vigorously the carbonation rises to the top, even if the one finger tan head has lacking retention/lacing.

S: A total sensory overload of dark, bittersweet chocolate. I mean HOLY SHIT. As a chocolate lover, this is total nirvana. I would complain about it upsetting the balance of the other stout characteristics (such as roastiness), but who cares? The smell is so amazingly in your face and shamelessly bold that it's hard not to fall in love with it.

T: I admit to having a bias toward chocolaty stouts (or, for that matter, chocolaty anything), but I have to admit. This is incredible. The booze does make a bit of an appearance on the finish, but it fits here. Aside from the bittersweet dark chocolate explosion (that thankfully doesn't feel or taste artificial), notes of dark fruit, coffee, and licorice pop up in patches. Still, this is something that knows what it's trying to accomplish, and doesn't go for anything different. Subtlety? Balance? Complexity? Fuck that. Here's more chocolate. Sure, I'm a huge advocate of those three criteria, but sometimes, you just want to be punched in the face with a certain flavor you really enjoy. That's exactly what Choklat is, an unashamedly one-note chocobomb. Chocoholics, your heaven in a bottle has arrived.

M: A little thin given its alcohol weight, but it bulks up just as it gets ready to leave the tongue covered in stickiness. Carbonation is low as expected, but dryness is high. Some of the flaws of its body may be more evident on a lesser beer, but it's hard to say it's overly porteresque (which it is) when the rest of the beer is so enjoyable.

O: I'd only ever drink one of these at a time, because trust me on this one - a little goes a long way, in fact, it would be best to share the bottle with friends. I can't give it all 5's in good conscience, since it's not quite perfect by any stretch, but I can't think of a beer I enjoyed more in such a long time.

It might be overdone for non-chocolate lovers, though. Even if you're not, it's more than worth a try. If you do love chocolate, then this is something to go out of your way to discover.

Pours with a darker brown head, about 2 fingers high, creamy, doesn't last too long, slight lacing. The color is pitch black even when held to the light.

This beer is aptly named. Overabundance of chocolate in the aroma. The smell is like a very sweet mix of hot chocolate powder, chocolate syrup, and a freshly unwrapped milk chocolate candy bar. Decadent could be used to describe it. Beyond all the chocolate are some hints of brown sugar, vanilla, cream, coffee, and may a tad bit of caramel.

The taste is just as rich and indulgent as the aroma alludes to. I'm bombarded with bitter chocolate, sweet milk chocolate, and chocolate syrup, along with notes of cream, and vanilla, hints of brown sugar, caramel, and coffee.

The carbonation is low-medium, consistency is silky but oily, while the body is medium-high, and the finish is a little longer than expected.

Overall this is a nice offering if you prefer to have your desert in liquid (beer) form. I don't think these beers from ST are too over the top, but I do enjoy them. Others might think they are a bit ridiculous. I didn't quite like this as much as I did Mokah, but both are good.

A: its a black hole, creates about 1 fingers worth of dark tan/mocha colored head which diminished rather quickly

S: oh God. it has such a massively sweet dark fudge aroma that it makes me immediate regret opening this bomber up with no one else to share it with. I get nothing but immense fudge, a slight touch of vanilla and if I really pull for it, I get a slight molasses note.

T: nothing but straight up chocolate fudge brownies and coffee. also big bitter dark chocolate that makes the brew a bit more enjoyable because it takes away the richness of this brew, but this one is gonna be an epic challenge to finish tonight.

M: full bodied all the way. leaves a bitter dark chocolate note along with a subtle rich fudge note on the palate. it is what i would expect for a brew that has enough calories to cause hyperglycemia.

Overall, this one is just so damn rich. It tastes like its 5,000 calories (possibly an understatement). I have never had a beer this sweet and I feel that this one crushes Creme Brulee in richness. Having a pint of this one is more than enough, drinking a bomber welcomes diabetes.

Thanks to cosmicevan for this one.

A: 1/4" light brown head that dissipated quickly over black liquid with very little visible carbonation.

S: It smells like a fudgesicle. Faint toasted malt and coffee notes underneath.

T: It tastes like a chocolate with hazelnut. Nutella in a glass. Toasted malt, roasted barley and coffee are faint in the aftertaste. Just beautiful.

M: Medium viscosity with a low level of carbonation.

O: Beautiful, one of the best chocolate digestif beers I have tried.
