Poured from a 22oz bottle into an over sized wine glass.

A: Pours a dark brown, pushing black, color letting no color through. It has a thin, mocha colored head that dissipates quickly. It looks a lot thinner than I was anticipating.

S: The aroma is an orgiastic feast for the senses. Strong, sweet milk chocolate is the backbone. Some roasted malts and dark, bitter chocolate finish it off.

T: The taste isn't as remarkable as the aroma, but is still quite admirable. Roasted malts and dark bitter chocolate are stronger here than the aroma. Milk chocolate makes a slight appearance towards the finish.

M: Definitely thinner and more watery than it should be. It is kind of flat and finishes on the bitter side. It does hide the alcohol deceivingly well.

O: The appearance and feel were a bit of a let down, but the aroma and taste certainly made up for it. Despite some flawed aspects, I will definitely enjoy picking this up again some time.

This is an amazing beer for all chocolate lovers. I am someone who loves 72% cocoa and this beer hits it out of the park. When I was told there is a chocolate imperial stout I almost lost it. This is a great beer when enjoying a chocolate bar or any chocolate dessert for that matter. It provides a great dark and smooth flavor that makes you feel like you are drinking chocolate. It is basically chocolate milk for adults. Even to the point that you can see little chocolate slivers in the beer.

Pours syrupy black with little head to speak of. Smells of strong chocolate syrup, sweet molasses, and more chocolate. Taste follows with big chocolate milk and Hershey's syrup, just a small hint of roasted malts, and no hop bitter on the finish. A bit sweet, and I recommend saving this for dessert. Body is thinner than needed for a big sweet guy like this, but medium chewyness. Prefer bitter coffee balance of the Mokah.

bomber split with my gf - snifter. bottled on 11.28.11.

a - pours a dark, greasy brown, nearly black. forms a finger thick, dense, light brown head that dissipates quick. spotty lacing.

s - cocoa powder, lactose, faint cola.

t - big milk and dark chocolate flavors with a lighter, roasted malt undercurrent. has a slight tanginess that leads into a bittersweet finish. no discernable hop character. alcohol content is well hidden.

m - medium body with adequate carbonation. medium co2 profile lacks the smoothness that others in their blackwater series have.

o - solid and enjoyable, but just on the edge of cloying to me. as such, drinkability suffers a bit, one glass is just about enough. i think i prefer the others in the blackwater series over this.
