Pours a very dark brown/oily black with 1 pinky of thin burnt orange head, very little retention but some good lacing. Smells just like creme brulee with notes of butterscotch, caramel, vanilla, and cream as well as some flavors of roasted malt and a touch of alcohol. Taste is sweet from the start of caramel and butterscotch followed by vanilla, lightly roasted malt, chocolate, lactose, and a touch of alcohol. Medium full in body with nice carbonation. Creamy and smooth, sweet with some roastiness and enough alcohol to remind you it is in fact Imperial. An excellent dessert beer and another winner from Southern Tier.
