This beer poured a deep dark black with about one finger of light tan creamy head. Minimal head retention but a little lacing all the same. The aroma is sweet and strongly vanilla. For me it's almost too sweet. The taste closely matches the aroma and I was wishing for more stout and less vanilla. The vanilla is almost too much and overpowers the subtle milk stout. It has a nice feeling in the palate from the lactose. Overall it's just a little too sweet for my taste and I wish the bottle notes had more prominently highlighted that this was strictly a dessert beer.

This poured thick and creamy like a chocolate syrup. The color is black and dull with a head that was dense and creamy as well.
The scent is a thick butterscotch, Werthers candy toffee, light caramel, whipped cream, oats and pecans.
The flavors are similar with a strong toffee, caramel, lighter butterscotch, slight coffee roast, pecan nuttiness and a tinge of booze. As it warms there is more obvious vanilla bean, as the label says, with some roast or char.
The feel is not as thick as it appears but it is solid enough. A bit bitter and boozy, this has a slickness that makes it slide down easier than would be expected.
As a dessert beer this is fabulous, as it has the smell taste and feel of an after dinner drink. This is much better served over 50F as straight out of the fridge restricts some of the flavor.

I cannot say enough about the smell of this beer. They should make scented candles out of it! The only reason I didn't give it a higher score is that it is a bit too sweet on its own for me. HOWEVER, if you mix it with a coffee style stout, it's UNBELIEVABLE (like Starbucks made a beer). I will absolutely buy this and serve it as a dessert beer or to mix with various stouts or porters. And, FYI, I think the ladies with a sweet tooth would love this one too (especially the ones who say they "don't like beer").
