Enjoyed this beer out of Belgian tulip glass

A: Pours a dark brownish black hue with a tan head that slowly dissipates leaving a good trail.

S: Sweet vanilla and chocolate aroma.

T: Overpowering vanilla aroma with a solid chocolate background.

M: Medium body and medium carbonation.

O: Interesting brew – way too sweet! Had to mix it with pumking to mellow it out.

A: dark/black with head foam remaining at edges, light in middle, and ok lacing
S: wonderful, powerful sugar/caramel front with a roasted coffee/nut in the background

T: (started sipping a little colder than recommended, I believe) sweetish front with a sting of alcohol. The taste is not nearly as sweet as the smell, and is a little bit of burnt coffee.
As I let the beer warm a bit (as I should have with a stout), the flavors mellowed and blended better. The sweetness lasts a little longer, and melds into the bitterness that has become more toasted nut than burnt coffee, although espresso notes remain.
M: the colder sips left an in appealing oily taste on the tongue. This was less present as it warmed, although it was replaced with an alcohol tinge.

O: for what I envisioned this is, a dessert-ish stout, it stands up pretty well. I think the alcohol is a little too prevalent, and I wish there was a little more maltiness to it. I realize it is an imperial, which is why I rated it a little higher than my tastes would have dictated.

750 ml bottle served in a goblet.

Looks fine but not much head or bubbles even with aggressive pouring. I really like all the information on the bottle about what is in it and what to pair it with etc.

This smells vanilla like a delicious desert. I don't know if beer should smell like this but what a great smell!

This tastes just a little like it smells up front then metallic bitterness. The more you drink the more nasty, metallic bitterness comes through. I had to eat something with this to try to finish it. This is not a sweet stout. This is a bitter stout.

Mouth feel is nice. If you pinch your nose you can really pay more attention to the mouth feel and it is nice.

Overall, I do not want to ever drink this again or anything else with that Guinness-like metal tasting bitter finish. I do like to smell it but I guess that is just a tease.
