A 22 oz bottle I thought I would try.

Poured a beautiful black/brown with a really good head for a stout.

Nose. Vanilla and more vanilla. So incredible.

Taste is not as good as the first two. It comes across as rather artificial and chemical laden. A nice creaminess and sweet chocolate are the main features. I thought I would let this warm up and air out a bit.

This was kind of a Jekyl and Hyde for me. I really got my hopes up but the taste is disappointing.

This pours black but with a reddish or mahogany hue around the edges when held up to the light. It has a fat cream head of mocha colored foam that fell slowly to a cap and ring and drippy lace. Refreshed with each turn of the glass.

Nose reminds me at first of vanilla cake batter int he mixing bowl. Strong scent of vanilla. There is some sweet and creamy chocolate but not that much. Then there's a little coffee. As it warms the nose continues to change subtly. It smells like creme brulee, then like coffee liquer and finally like those maple sugar candies. really sweet. The vanilla is bitter and reminds one of booze but there's no actual alcohol on the nose.

Taste is rich. Burnt sugar, caramel, molasses, and toffee. Just and endless malt. Strong, bitter vanilla, a touch of chocolate and light coffee, the burnt sugar and buttery cream. There is a touch of hop bitter at the back as well and it finishes pretty bitter. The maple sugar taste is heavy toward the end of the drink. There's some alcohol on the palate and it warms gently on the way down.

This is definitely a desert beer. It's velvety and smooth but it has a hard edge to it from the strong vanilla and the alcohol. It's creamy and tastes a lot like cream. As it warmed the malt became nutty and toasted on the nose. I can't say I would buy this again. It was hard to finish the small pour I had but it seemed to grow on me. Tasted like a liquer and not really like a beer.

Appearance- About a finger and a half of a darker tan colored, slightly creamy foam. Lingers briefly, but dissipates after a minute or so. Beer itself is a dark mahogany brown, pretty much opaque.

Smell- Very rich, would say it smells creamy, if such a thing is possible. Vanilla is by far the most prevalent scent, with a creamy buttery undercurrent. Very mindful of its namesake, a sweetness with just a hint of a kick.

Taste- Again a very strong vanilla, maybe a hint of coffee. Bold with a tinge of tartness that is remarkably satisfying. Almost a roasted flavor that definitely brings to mind a creme brulee's crusted top. Alcohol taste is only vaguely present, especially for a 9.6 ABV. Nice buttery aftertaste.

Mouthfeel- Starts smooth, followed by a little kick. Flows nicely over the tongue and manages to feel creamy without being thick. Very pleasing combination.

Overall- Rather tasty. Have had this one a couple of times now and found that I like it best with a drink or two already under my belt. Probably wouldn't want to start the night off with it, definitely would call it a desert beer. A bit sweeter than my general preference, but it's a nice change of pace,
