22oz bomber poured into my Chimay chalice.
A- pours a fairly dark translucent orange-brown with a white head.
S - ripe candied fruits, pine, oak, and a bit of spiciness.
T - Wow, this is intense. Reminds me of the first time I tried DFH 90-Minute. A bit more malty than I expected, with a fair amount of honey and dark fruit like sweetness up front followed by a good amount of bitter, piney hops. Citrus rind and oak are both present and substantial.
M - rather chewy and viscous, with a coating effect. Good amount of carbonation for the style, which I like.
D - I wouldn't call this highly drinkable, although it is very high ABV. I had to drink this in steps instead of all at once because it has a very intense flavor.
It's not the kind of beer I'd drink all the time, but it was great for a special occasion like the 4th of July. A solid IIPA from Southern Tier.

Holy oak taste, Batman!
Forget aged in oak. This tastes like I'm just drinking right out of the barrel. Oak, brown, tannins. That's what this beer tastes like. Also some hops and malt... but mostly just oak.
No real good aromas to speak of.
What am I drinking? Sigh. Drinkable and unique, but wouldn't have it again
