Poured from a big bottle into my Hobgoblin glass.
Appearance: Deep, slightly hazy copper color; one-and-a-half-finger creamy head. Very good retention.
Smell: Strong floral hops and a sweet, slightly funky malty smell.
Taste: Extremely well balanced; the hops and malts are in perfect measure. I find this similar to Double Dog Double Pale Ale, but better overall. The high alcohol content is only a little bit noticeable as it goes down.
Mouthfeel: Good, medium body, a little 'tangy'; carbonation is just right.
Drinkability: Very easy to drink for such a strong beer, so be careful! If I'm not mistaken, this is my first beer from Southern Tier, and I'm eager to try their other offerings, as this one is extremely good.

Holy oak taste, Batman!
Forget aged in oak. This tastes like I'm just drinking right out of the barrel. Oak, brown, tannins. That's what this beer tastes like. Also some hops and malt... but mostly just oak.
No real good aromas to speak of.
What am I drinking? Sigh. Drinkable and unique, but wouldn't have it again
