Poured from a bomber into a snifter- a deep golden amber color with no head and minimal lacing. Aroma is of hops, maple, brown sugar, burnt oak, and slightly nutty. Mouthfeel is pretty heavy, and taste is of hops, maple syrup, almonds, and cherries. The high (11%) ABV is very well hidden. Like all Southern Tier, this is very sweet, but more tolerable than most other brews of theirs. This is definitely one of their best.

Holy oak taste, Batman!
Forget aged in oak. This tastes like I'm just drinking right out of the barrel. Oak, brown, tannins. That's what this beer tastes like. Also some hops and malt... but mostly just oak.
No real good aromas to speak of.
What am I drinking? Sigh. Drinkable and unique, but wouldn't have it again
