22oz bottle - no date, but I assume its from this year. Served in a snifter.
Appearance: Bit of a very dark cola brown upon pouring, but this quickly got quite dark and black. Barest ring of foam around the edge, no lacing. Dark, but not a stunner in the appearance department for this category of stout.
Smell: Very rich and inviting. Rich chocolate & cocoa powder smell combined with afternotes of coffee.
Taste: Very rich. Sweet and desert like. Starts with a rich upfront chocolate taste moving into dark black coffee and bit of an espresso bitter finish at the end. Indeed a beer with coffee and chocolate as the dominant features, as advertised by the bottle. Alcohol very well hidden in all of this richness.
Mouthfeel: Creamy thick, barest level of carbonation underneath it all. Some alcohol burn/bite as it goes down the throat.
Overall / Drinkability: A definite dessert beer. I had this with dessert (Buttermilk Pie) but afterwards, I felt this beer WAS the desert. It stands all on its own. Combining it with more dessert is almost too much. But it is an amazing beer in aroma, taste, and mouthfeel. Definitely a one and done beer though. 1 large snifter was enough, and more and I would be hurting later. The beer is a slow sipping savoring beer, much like a big dessert being picked at and savored towards the end of a nice meal.

Appearance- Pours a pitch black with a large, foamy espresso colored head.
Smell- A huge nose that is full of chocolatey notes with subtle coffee and caramel as well.
Taste- The chocolate takes the forefront again with nice coffee undertones. Sweet and full of flavor but very drinkable.
Mouthfeel- Full bodied. The alcohol is hidden well which makes for awesome drinkability.
Overall- A complex, refreshing stout that hits the right notes on almost all levels.
