Pours pitch black with little to no head. Smells of chocolate and coffee, a beautiful mocha (no surprise) aroma that makes this seem like it would go great with some vanilla ice cream. Taste is a perfect combination of the two, and somehow the mixture of Jahva and Choklat manages to outperform both. Slightly syrupy on the mouthfeel like Hershey's syrup infused with earthy coffee, but not overly so. Sweet and good for dessert or a cold winter Friday night. Excellent.

For my 900th review I'll thank andrenaline for including this beauty in our latest trade
A - cold black with a little light getting through at the bottom of the glass, short tan head dissipated to some random islands
S - big shot of sweet milky chocolate, mild roasty and coffee notes, all rich and decadent aromas
T - mix of milk and dark chocolate goodness, espresso compliments and lingers, roasty background, alcohol is there but more sweet than heat making this extra dangerous
M - silky creamy smooth from start to finish, would have guessed half the ABV, dangerous...
O - what a ridiculous beer in the best kind of way, like a rich mocha with a melted chocolate bar stirred in, definitely left wanting more

A: Pitch black in appeatance, leaves a slight tan head at the top, that leaves a nice brown lacing all over the glass.

S: Chocolate, cream, coffee, and just a bit of booze.

T: This taste just like chocolate, a bit of coffee notes throughout, and a bit of booze at the tail end, great tasting.

M: Sticky, very thick and slight carbonation.

O: This beer is fantastic, great winter beer, very enjoyable and taste like dessert.

22oz bomber pours a dark black with a decent amount of foam. Smell is of dark chocolate. The taste is of strong chocolate with a hint of coffee. So much fucking chocolate in this beer, its beautiful. I swear I just ate a hersey bar. So damn smooth for the 11%. Loads and loads of chocolate. I can't wait to try the Choklat. Very damn awesome beer. Everyone should buy this beer if they see it.

A - This stout is pretty dark, just a hint of light can pierce it. Not a lot of head, maybe an 1/8 of an inch and it disappears quickly. Decent lacing across the glass.
S - Smells like a brown tootsie roll pop. Nice and chocolatey, with a bit of coffee mixed in there.
T - Strong chocolate taste, sweet too. Coffee is stronger here than in the smell, a nice blend of flavors. Alcohol is present, but not overpowering. I guess that should be expected from 11% abv.
M - Pretty carbonationed for a stout, coarse over the tongue. Once the fizz fades, has a light feel to it.
D - Very drinkable brew, there's almost nothing I didn't enjoy about it. Mouthfeel is a bit rough, but not necessarily bad. Overall this was a pleasure to drink and I'm looking forward to picking up some more Southern Tier brews.

Pours deep, dark brown with a modest mocha head. Smells of chocolate and coffee with a strong alcohol component. This beer is big on flavor, with rich dark chocolate and gourmet coffee. The body is smooth and substantive, an excellent complement to the rich taste. The high ABV is respectably mellowed while the beer is still at its coldest (though still hardly invisible). As it warms, the alcohol becomes more strident--the only real flaw I can point out. Normally, I tend to enjoy dark beers more as they warm, but that's not the case here, as the alcohol becomes something of a distraction. The luxurious flavor profile, along with an eagerness to "beat the heat", make this imperial stout way too easy to imbibe without conscience. Another winning stout from Southern Tier.

Recieved this in a trade from a great trader, brewdan. Thanks a bunch.
As this beer leaves the bottle its brown and as it builds in the glass appears black with a very small tan head that fades to a ring quickly leaving a bit of lacing.
The nose is heavy of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee and creamer, pretty rich nose to this brew.
The taste is about what you would expect from the nose, very rich and full of chocolate and coffe, some cocoa and vanilla as well, not much alcohol present at all.
Very smooth medium body on this beer with a creamy finish, no alcohol heat, can't believe how well hidden it is.
Great beer I wish I could drink on a regular basis.

Mokah, A Stout Brewed with Chocolate and Coffee. "Imperial" Mokah.

Jamaican coffee, Belgian chocolate, caramel, chocolate & black malts...11%? We're in for some fun.

Aroma is all chocolate, coffee below, hops muted....appearance, utter darkness, rich, roasted brown head....that aroma is to kill for though...so, rich, bittersweet, ...is it my birthday already?

Taste:Insane! Everything I try from these guys goes further and further. Jahva, and Oat, and Choklat...these can be pushed further and made deeper, richer, fuller and more expressive in flavor? Damn right.
Bittersweet, coffee mingled with rich cocoa flavor...liquefied chocolate frosting.

Holy macaroni, this is great stuff. Full-bodied, long, luxurious finish. Damnably delicious. Pretty amazing, never quite tasted quite this much genuine chocolate flavor in a stout. Intense, decadent, almost indecent.
Yum, mmm!

A - Pours a very deark brown but not black colour with a minimal head.

S - Strong aromas of dark chocolate cocoa, really nice.

T - Dominant flavours of chocolate and really morerish, a little coffee at the end. Quite sweet and milky. Tastes like chocolate mud cake.

D - I'm in love with this beer. It is liquid chocolate cake and the alcohol is nowhere to be seen.

A - Pours pitch black, minimal head, and what head there is fades to nothing in a hurry. As a result, really no lacing

S - Very creamy aroma, with milk chocolate and some mild coffee, in that order.

T - Bittersweet chocolate, with some vanilla in there as well. The coffee is somewhat in the background but it a delicious mix. The alcohol is not really hidden in this one

M - Creamy and thick, with pretty low carbonation

O - Got ambitious and tried a bomber of this on my own tonight. Wish this came in 12oz bottles as 22oz of this is a lot for any man to handle on his own. It is a sipper for sure, but like the rest of the big ST stouts, very well done.

On tap at Prime 16 in New Haven CT.

Served in an Ommegang flute glass. Black with no head other than a crescent tan rim.

Phenominal dark chocolate aroma.

Flavor follows aroma and is all about well-balanced chocolate. Other than a touch of roasted finish, this one is all about chocolate.

Got this bottle at the GrapeVine in Fort Mill SC.
Pours a deep, dark, thick body with a caramel colored head.
The smell of this beer is unbelievable. It's smells almost exactly like a carnavel chocolate covered frozen banana. There's heavy chocolate, lots of coffee notes and an underlying of banana and milky sweetness.
The taste of this should be a five but it's not perfect for an imperial stout or a RIS, but it's one of the best THEMED stouts I've ever had. It's milky, thick and chocolatey with all the sweetness of coffee mocha without any bitterness. It has a nearly burboun like character with hints of banana and some subtle caramel notes.
I love this beer and the extreme thickness helps balance the abv.

I had this beer for the first time at The Fred Bar in Atlanta:

A: Almost black, 1 finger brown head

S: Smells like chocolate milk, coffee, caramel, vanilla

T: Tastes more like coffee than the strong chocolate smell but you can definitely taste the chocolate as well. Burnt malts. Alcohol taste is very present but doesn't taste like 11%

D: It's delicious! I couldn't drink it all night but it's perfect if you're just having 1 or 2 beers in a night. Good dessert beer.

I love this style and really like how Southern Tier isn't afraid to take chances and create good beers like no others you've tasted before.

Something of a choklat/jahva mix that works very well. It looks as an imperial stout should, with its dark brown, bordering on black, pour and off-white head. Decent retention and sticky lace ensue. The aroma is full of wow. Overpoweringly rich chocolate and coffee mingles to create a perfect replica of a damn good cafe mocha. This is continued over into the flavour, and I think is a more accurate take on a mocha than creme brulee was on its intended dose of sweetness. Talking of sweetness... its here in good amounts, along with a good dose of alcohol. Its a little hot yet, and I'd advise those who have it to kick back for a while before opening. Warming, rich and thick the mouthfeel suits the beer and its weight very well indeed, but adds to the overall impression that this is a sipper.

Awesome.

A - Black, with a thin tan head that has no retention or lacing.

S/T - Starts with indulgent, sweet, rich chocolate, than roasted coffee mid palate and finishes again with milk chocolate and some roast bitterness throughout. A perfect blend between the Jahva and Choklat.

M - Full body, low carbonation, slick and creamy across the palate, but leaving a coating of chocolate behind.

O - Having had both the Jahva and Choklat, this a perfect blend between the two. Not too indulgent like the Choklat, with a nice amount of coffee and bitterness from the Jahva. I'll get this again.

I really am impressed by the appearance of this beer. The way the bubbles shoot to the top and the fact that the head retention is perfect, I think that it is carbonated very well. Black body and a cream color head that quickley turns into a whip cream consistency. Lacing perfect. Color perfect. Appearance perfect.

s- I can smell that this beer has been brewed with chocolate. It is so upfront that I cant smell the other aromas around it. This beer definately delivers what it is trying to. I already know that its name lives up to its flavor.

t- wow the flavor of this beer doesnt at all dissapoint. The chocolate flavor doesnt hit you right away, instead waits for the moment of bitterness and substitutes it with sweetness. I am in shock that this beer is 11% alcohol, goes down like chocolate milk.

m- perfectly carbonated with a creamy feel to it. The beer is like silk. I am getting impressed more and more with this beer.

poured from a bomber into a snifter tonight. even though its really warm out, im looking forward to sipping on this in the nice chilly AC.

a- pours pitch black with no light getting through. a thing sliver of head rises with a creamy color then drops quickly.

s- the chocolate on this nose is crazy. sort of like creamy milk chocolate cocoa powder. the chocolate is overpowering anything else in the nose because i dont smell much else.

t- starts off with a rich milk chocolate, melts into a more bitter dark chocolate with a dry, slightly hoppy finish. the sweetness of bittersweet chocolate lingers quite a while.

m- feel is creamy and rich. it drinks incredibly well and easy. the high abv is nowhere to be found at all. there is very little carbonation, but that lets the flavors linger on my palate and i love it.

overall, im a huge fan of this beer. i love huge rich imperial stouts and dont mind them being on the sweeter side. the chocolate is very prevalent, but not overpoweringly so. the flavors linger on my palate for so long and i find it awesome. I have a huge appreciation of southern tier brews and this doesnt dissapoint at all.

Pours complete darkness into a snifter with nice 2 finger dark brown head. Smells like chocolate syrup with some twangy alcohol scents. Taste is in your face kick you in the pallet chocolate followed by a nice roasted coffee bitterness. Mouthfeel is extremely smooth, thick, and oily with little carbonation. Alcohol can be felt warming your guts while this oil slick makes it's way to your stomach so I'm going with a 4. Very tasty brew. Play on ST. Phin, Paul, and Jared, nice job!!!

22 oz. bomber poured into a snifter.

The pour is almost black save some brown hues. A thick tan head stayes for a while before receding, leaving a nice amount of lacing.

The nose is mostly chocolate and coffee with some sweet notes of toffee. The taste is creamy chocolate and sweet coffee. It reminds me of melted coffee ice cream; very nice.

Mouthfeel is about as creamy as possible, and the alcohol content is hidden well. Drinkability may be a bit too high: it's almost like a milkshake.

Definitely is one for when you only want _one_. It is almost too drinkable, especially with its alcoholic content.

Bomber bottle, pours darkest shades of brown, with some ruby hues shining through, the head is dark tan, better the average reteniona dn leaving some spotty stickage. Nose is boldly of the advertized coffee and chocolate. Thick on the tongue, bold on the flavors, high on the quality department. Loads of coffee and over the top chocolate notes. Tasty sipper. More fine brew from ST. World class dessert beer, IMHO.
