Looks: diffusive goldenrod. Silky strands float about in the liquid upon the pour. A frothy head of pure white sits atop but runs away fairly quickly, becoming a chunky top layer that leaves some nice jagged lacing.
Smells: lawn-scented. It's more grassy than citrusy, though there is lemon peel, honey, sweet strawberry and pineapple. Smells very fresh and very sweet.
Tastes: subdued. The hops seems to impart more bitterness than flavor here. A bit of orange peel, some pear, a little sweet pale malt, some lime, and grass again. Maybe I'm spoiled, but this seems more like an IPA than a double IPA. Pretty average.
Feels: medium-light in body, with a prickly medium-high carbonation that causes the beer to fizz up slightly as it moves about the mouth.
Drinks: like unfulfilled expectations. I've been extremely impressed with most of the Southern Tier beers I've been able to try. 2XIPA isn't bad by any means; the flavor just doesn't deliver the check the nose was writing.

While still better than the majority of mass-produces beer, this is a representation of the style I am not fond of. It's all hops with just a bit of malt sweetness before the hops take over.
Pine-y resins of hops comes through on the pour, with a pale wheat-straw colour giving up a decent-sized head that dissipated quickly, leaving very little lacing. The taste was as I described above - you get a malty sweetness on the tongue that quickly gives way to the 4 varieties of hops used in this brew. This BA cannot taste any hidden notes of fruits. Finish is very dry & bitter, and this lingers for quite a while on the palate. Mouthfeel is decent, a little thick & with good carbonation.
Overall, not a favourite of mine.
