On rate beer its a 97. @ 8.2%etoh it you will fill it. I found IBU listed @ 55 or unknown. Its a pretty good hoppy beer. Compared to the green flash palate wrecker...it did wreck my palate making me find this beer just good. @ pizza paridisio @ dupont circle it goes for $7 a glass.

A - An almost transparent pale yellow. Thin white head that leaves a small amount of lacing. Honestly, this looks kind of like a Bud Light.

S - All very soft aromas: grapefruit, clove, tea and some hops.

T - Tart grapefruit, again some tea and concludes with a bitter finish. There are some hops present here, but for a DIPA, I expect much more.

M - Wow this is a malty DIPA, perhaps the most malty one I have encountered. I feel this hurts the beer by taking away from the hop driven bitterness by smoothing it out too much. It drinks smooth, with a medium body and relatively low carbonation.

O - This is definitely a unique DIPA. I simply cannot be an advocate for so many malts in a beer of this type. Simply average.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint.

Appearance: Hazy, light gold with decent stark white head and a touch of lacing.

Smell: Tart grapefruit, floral/spicy hops, tea and doughy bread. A little mild, and very English, other than the grapefruit.

Taste: Nice, grapefruity hops over a ramped up malt body of bread, tea and caramel. Finish is just somewhat bitter, and actually more floral and spicy than truly bitter.

Feel: Fairly light body for the style, but pretty oily as well. Carbonation is subdued. Finish is dry, as expected regardless of whether I am treating this as a Double IPA or some kind of ramped up English Ale. Crisp and refreshing. Odd for an over 8% beer.

Overall: This is not really what I think of as DIPA. This is simply too English and malty, but with some grapefruity American hops thrown in for good measure. So I would consider this more of a American-style Double ESB, which isn't a style. The name 2XIPA is simply misleading. That's a lot of blathering just to say that this was not what I expected. However, it's very tasty and unique, which is more important than style distinctions.
