Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer may have a cheeky name, but don’t be fooled; it is modeled after fine European pilsners to be light and crisp. Aromatic Noble hop varieties, 2-row malted barley and European style pilsner malt contribute to this pale beer’s smooth character.

Light golden straw color. Sudsy head with blanketed surface and decent lace.

Crispy golden lager malts with a slight yeast presence. Sweeter grassiness with thin Euro hop mossy aromas. Pale nose with that pilsner identity keeping it classy.

Half Czech Pils, half pale Euro lager. Hard to trace grassiness, sweet maltiness, dry finish with only mild bitterness. A little watery, needs spunkiness. Hops are muted in the middle, but come with minty pine linger in the tailend. Easy to manage in the beginning with a wet and thinned-out body, but finishes with some crackle and pop. Carbonation is a bit lower than standard fare.

Hardly anything extraordinary. A mundane pils that slights the style a bit. Drinks fine, but it's passable. 3.5

A: Pours a clear, pale yellow with a thin white head that dissipates very quickly.

S: Aromas of grain, minerals, rosewater, herbs, grass, honey, and lemon are present on the nose.

T: Notes of minerals, lemon, herbs, grass, grain, honey, and rosewater wash across the palate. The finish is clipped with lemon, herb, grass, and mineral notes.

M: Medium-to-full in body, waxy, and a bit stickier than expected. Carbonation is very prickly. As beers of this type go, this is far from easy to drink. Unexpectedly filling and bloating for the style.

O: This beer has done little to convince me that American craft brewers handle European lagers well. Compared to many of the Czech classics, this lager is sorely lacking. Everything about it is just a little off. Although it is not bad really, the aromas and flavors displayed by this beer are too simple and too straight-forward and the carbonation is far too forceful. There is not a lot of depth, complexity, or subtlety here and the whole package is a bit too unrefined for my liking. Again, it is not really that bad, but it does seem a bit dumbed down compared to the beers it tries to emulate.

Poured into a pilsner a light lemony color with a very thin head wich left me a bit dissapointed.Wet grainy aromas with some underlying iron/metallic notes along with mild toastiness.Firm toastiness on the palate with real restrained sweetness,a decent shot of sharp peppery hops in the finish. To me this is more of a north German style pilsner with its dryness and healthy dose of hops in the finish, still I have had much better pilsners,I still love ST though.

In a pilsner glass the beer was a light gold color with a tiny white head. There was a smidge of lace.

A rather nondescript aroma. Hints of grass, pepper, and sweet malt. Nice, but not great.

Taste similar to aroma. Sweet biscuit and a hint of grassy hops. Again, nice but not great.

The beer was crisp and refreshing, and was easy to drink.

12 ounce bottle, "DOB 12/19/11" etched on the bottle

Pours super clear and super light straw in color. Fine near white head, stays a bit then goes to a loose film and leaves some nice looking very fine lace.

Grassy nose with a hint of lime.

Light (seems to be a theme developing here) crisp and summery in character. Light malts up front, quite drying and crisp tasting hops in the middle and finish. Another hint of lime.

I like it. Would be great with some peppery salads and spicy noodles, BBQ, other summery foods on a nice warm summer day...ahh looking forward to some warm weather, wont be too long now...get some of this and enjoy

Appearance: minimal head, medium-high carbonation, gold in color, clear

Smell: grass and some sweet malt

Taste: grass, toffee, and bittering citrus hops at the end

Mouthfeel: sweetish start with a dry bitter finish, moderate carbonation, medium-light bodied

Overall: An above average no frills pilsner that leans slightly to the bitter side. Not a bad beer, but nothing I will revisit soon.

got a growler from consumers on abbott road. reviewed from notes.

clear deep golden color, big fluffy pure white head. lots of great sticky lace, great retention.

grainy pilsner malts, earthy floral hops.

pale, sweet, grainy pilsner malts, a nice spicy floral hopkick, then finishs with the grains once again.

light bodied, yet full flavored, great carbonation for the style.

great session beer, a growler is an easy kill. if your into pilsners, drink this if you can get it.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass. Bottling date of 12/19/11.

Appearance: Pours a bright and very clear looking golden yellow with lots of rising bubbles and a solid two fingers of white head with good retention. Moderate lacing around the glass.

Smell: A light blend of pale caramel malts with some wheat grains. Has a nice grassy, somewhat herbal presence of Noble and Saaz hops giving that classic earthy Pilsner spice.

Taste: A nice bready, grainy taste of pale malts and grains up front that is followed by a earthy, grassy blend of Noble hops and Saaz. Hops give a nice little kick of bitterness and spice towards the finish. Pretty solid.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with a medium to heavy amount of carbonation. Very crisp and somewhat prickly. Very easy drinking.

Overall: A pretty solid take on the Classic Czech Pils.

DOB on these bottles are 1/18/12 it's hard to get a fresher pilz then that around this area of Ohio. Dropped off at my local store today by Premium Beverage outside of Columbus. Pours a pale fizzy yellow hue with a large white head, fine even speckled lacing is left behind with eadh sip. A slight haze appears in the extremely pale yellow golden body, that fits well to the style. Label says it's brewed with two varieties of hops and two varieites of malts, so it's a pretty basic pilsner. Aroma has pale biscuit malt with upfront hints of herbal/herbaceous hop content. Citrus notes of lemon and lime also jump out within the hop profile. Flavors, come of crisp with ample bitterness upfront biscuit malt sweetness with more than enough hops thrown in to leave their mark finish nice and dry with citric herbal notes and a touch of Euro pils skunk character, but not bad compared to most of the green bottled versions out there. Mouthfeel is light bodied finishes dry and crisp with each sip, leaves a nice lingering bitterness but is balanced between sips as well. Not abrasive just a well made Southern Tier pilz, not like their original pilsner they used to bottle I used to love that beer. This one has an A with a circle around it a Craft Revolution!, and a Punk Rock Skull...did I mention the color scheme is black, gray, pink, white and pink. Those pinkie bastards brew some damn good pilz.
