Czech Pilsener |  5.20% ABV

Availability: Spring

Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer may have a cheeky name, but don’t be fooled; it is modeled after fine European pilsners to be light and crisp. Aromatic Noble hop varieties, 2-row malted barley and European style pilsner malt contribute to this pale beer’s smooth character.

Poured into a Pilsner Glass

Appearance - Very Pale Straw Color that is about as clear as you can get. Small amounts of carbonation. Head pours around 1 finger in width that doesn't disappear but rather flattens out.

Smell - Malts and Barley along with some Yeasts. The entire smell is over-compassed by this very grassy smell.

Taste - Very Malty in flavor, along with some slight grassy hop flavors and yeasts. Nothing bad, but nothing great. Overall, very average tasting for a Pilsner.

Mouthfeel - The body is light and feels crisp. The carbonation is more on the average side, but it's easy to drink and feels good on the palate.

Overall - Aside from feeling refreshing, this is a very average Pilsner. It's good for knocking back with a snack or outside on a hot day, but this Pilsner leaves something more to be desired

Poured from the bottle into a Radeberger flute at low altitude.

A: Looks at home in the Radeberger glass. Pours a crystal clear golden color with a prickly two-finger stark white head that fades to nothing within about 15 seconds. No lacing here, but the small carbonation bubbles look nice as they waft toward the top of the glass.

S: Bread, noble hops, grassy notes. As it should be, the smell is relatively subtle.

T: Bready yeast up front gives way to some slight grassy notes and noble hop bitterness. The finish is slightly metallic. Really not much to set this apart from a lot of the other pilsners on the market.

M: Light-bodied with a wet mouthfeel. I could have done with a bit more carbonation, but the mouthfeel suits the flavors well enough.

Poured into pint glass. Apperance is incredibly pale with a thin layer of white head which leaves decent lacing behind. The nose features grassy hops typical of a Pilsener with vague hints at skunk character. Sweet corn notes come through along with some grainy quality as well. The taste is absent of the hop character that I detected on the nose. Lots of malt character with a tinge of corn sweetness. Not a lot of flavor here. The mouthfeel is feather light with high carbonation. Overall, I am not a huge fan of this Pils. The nose is a bit off putting and the malt character is a little too sweet for the style.

Pours a light, soapy, white head. A nice aroma of floral/spicy hops and sweet malt. A very light golden color; clear as can be. It starts off bitter, with a metallic twang. It builds into a medium bitterness, and then near the end, the biscuity malt shows through atop the floral hops. Lingering bitterness.

Not really my favorite Pilsner. There is just too much bitterness and too little hop to make it work for me; it's like hopping back asswards, almost.
Don't get me wrong, it's not bad....it's just not very good.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a pale gold color with a thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is faint but contains light malts, some hops and lager yeast.

T: The taste starts out with a mild burst of hops bitterness followed by breadiness from lager yeast and a thin malt character. There’s some mild sweetness and a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly bready.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, there are definitely several other beers in the style that I would choose before this one.

Pale straw yellow color with a fleeting white head that settles as a bubbly ring. Slightly doughy pilsner malt sweetness in the nose along with a floral/herbal hoppiness and a flash of sulfur. Simple, light flavors...cereal grain, grass, and a spicy hop bitterness. Clean, light, crisp, and suck-down-able, but ultimately too watery and plain to bother drinking more than one.

12 oz bottle poured into a Kostritzer pilsner glass.

A: Pours a golden straw color typical of the style. The head is a one finger white shade. It fades quickly, nor does it leave much lacing on the glass.

S: I really like how hoppy this one is. Tons of zesty, grassy noble hops bombard my nose with only a modicum of malt sweetness coming through.

T: The flavor doesn't come across quite right; it seems to be heavy in both buttery and vegetal components. It has that green bell pepper quality I tend to dislike in some pilsners. Some sweetness builds on the midtaste which slightly wrecks the balance.

M: Not as crisp as I like in the style. It's properly light, but the hops don't really cleanse the sweetness particularly well.

O: Merely an average pilsner; the vegetal character really hurts it. Not bad, but there are much better lagers out there.

12 oz bottle.

It pours a light golden color with a foamy white head.

The smell is bready and biscuity. Slightly perfumey with some noble hops.

The flavor is a bit off for a pils. It has some unwanted yeasty notes and too much candied orange (misuse of noble hops)

This beer pours a clear pale gold color. The head is a half an inch in height, and recedes quickly into minimal lacing. The aroma is vaguely malty with very faint bread and caramel, but it is mostly air. The taste is a lot fuller than the aroma. There is a nice balance of bready malt with and spicy hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with lively carbonation, and a smooth texture. Overall, this is a decent beer, but there are better pilsensers out there.

Southern Tier Eurotrash Pilz has a completely clear, golden colored body with a lot of active carbonation bubbles leading to a very soapy looking, white head. The retention and lacing are both very good, and overall I would consider this Eurotrash to look pretty good.

The aroma has a bit of floral hops to it that is backed up with a lot of pale, sweet malts.

The flavor is fairly balanced between hops and malt. The hops come through first, with a lot of floral and grassy flavors, as well as some lemon. The malt base is quite sweet and completely pale. Flavors of cracker and bread come through as well.

High carbonation and very light feeling.

I really thought that Eurotrash was close to the trash European pilsners than the quality Czech and German versions that I have tried. It is by no means terrible, but I doubt I will be in a hurry to try

Solid golden color with a thin head with low retention.
Aroma of grassy hops and bready malt. Just a hint of lemon.
Sweet flavor of malt with herbal and floral hops, green apples at finish. Fast dry and bitter aftertaste.
Light body with medium carbonation.
This beer is all right, no thrills as one would normally expect for the style and Eurotrash is no exception.

From a bottle with bottling date indicated.

A: Pours a clear gold and is topped by a thin (very thin) white head. Plenty of carbonation can be seen rising to the top.

S: Light; I am getting some grass notes as well as a skunky almost cannabis like scent.

T: Nothing impressive; I am getting that skunky marijuana-esque character as well as some grassiness. The malt character is biscuity/doughy in nature.

M: Carbonated; however, nothing that would bloat or really cause a filling sensation, really light and clean.

O: Not something I would try again; although, I am curious as to if I received a skunked bottle.

Poured into a pint glass. This one pours a light golden straw color with just a this layer of white foam that settles down to nothing.

Pretty uninspiring aroma here. Faint grassy hops with a little bit of toasty malts. Nothing bad, but a little bit of boring side. Pretty nice biscuity malts with a little bit of a bitter hop finish.

The body is light with good crisp carbonation. Overall not a bad beer but not a great one either. There's other stuff I'll always grab. File this under average.

A-clear golden. lots of bubbles, no head

S-smells like a pale euro lager. faint scent.

T-comes in with a taste of a fairly bitter pale euro lager. good flavor of grains. the bitterness lasts with the after-taste and has a biscuity flavor to it. easy drinking

M-medium carbonation with a super dry finish

O-probably one of my least favorite ST beers. it really does have that trashy taste to it that i dislike about a lot of the pale european lagers. there are just so many other good pilsners that i'd recommend. doesn't stand up to Farmers Tan or Krampus.

Crystal translucent and pale yellow. Light fluffy head and tons of bubbles.

I've never described a beer as grassy in a good way, but this Pilz had a grassy, kind of fruity (citrus) smell.

The taste is pretty good, this is way better than any of the Macro lagers out there. Smooth, yet bitter and great for summer or with food.

Very fizzy and full bodied. Decent

Highly drinkable, and good. Seems like an ok beer for a hot day.

Southern Tier Eurotrash Pilz has a medium head, a somewhat hazy, slightly bubbly, yellow-gold appearance, and some thin, splotchy lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, cracker, with some grassy hops. Taste is the same. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Southern Tier Eurotrash Pilz finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and dry. Overall, this is nice. I like it.

A: Pours crystal clear pale yellow with just a hint of visible carbonation and a finger high bright white head which dissipates to nothing almost instantly. This beer exhibited little to no lacing on the glass.

S: Light aromas of floral hops and something that smells like it is just on the edge of spoiling.

T: The flavor of this beer is very sharp with bready and grainy malts present and the slight hints of spiciness.

M: Light bodied with low to moderate carbonation and a definite crispness.

O: This beer has a great name and unfortunately did not fulfill the greatness expected. Crisp and easy to drink, one could easily have a couple of these in a sitting, but would one want to with the many other superior pils available.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle in to a pilsener glass.

A- Pours an absolutely clear and golden with minimal head and a little retention. Looks like an American macro.

S- Bready malts and a solid amount of spice, accompanied by some hoppy notes.

T- It's hard to pinpoint any one standout flavor, so I'd say this tastes a bit like a garden salad. Not my favorite.

M- Pretty light, but well-carbonated. Could use a bit more body.

O- I don't really have anything negative to say about this offering, but there isn't much good to say either.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has some hints of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that died down but never completely faded away, consistently leaving a thin layer of bubbles on the surface.
S: There are very light aromas of floral hops in the nose. No traces of malts are detectable.
T: The taste has a mixture of flavors of bready and grainy malts along with hints of spiciness from the hops.
M: It feels a bit more than light-bodied and crisp on the palate and a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The beer is crisp and has some refreshing properties but I’m not sure if I would have more than one of these in a sitting as there are better pilsners out there.

Clear, yellow/gold in color, with a rather short head of bright white foam.
Aroma-Faint pilsner malt
Taste-Faintly bready, metallic, short hop note seems to un-balance this brew a bit. Missing the spicy Saaz hop (at least to my palate) that makes a Czech pilsner unique. There's a hop note here, just doesn't seem like the Saaz variety.
Overall, an o.k. offering, but there are much better Czech pilsners out there.

Clear and golden, not a whole lot of head or lace.

Smell is grainy, with a light hoppiness and just a touch of notable earthy malt. Taste pretty much follows, with a pretty tasty crisp hops accent to a slightly slick, somewhat sweet malt backbone, finished up by grassy notes.

Body is light and a little slick with a slightly sweet, lightly hoppy aftertaste.

It's tasty but isn't one of ST's top beers. Would be nice in cans for fishin' though.

Poured a crystal clear yellow with no visible body. The head was neatly thick with a fluffy build.

Aromas of grain, cereal malt sweetness and bready notes waft to the nos but a corny adjunct scent is present. I know that this has malt and hops but it's got a corn scent in the backdrop.

The taste is absent the adjunct and big on the grains and cereal malt flavor. Smooth, refreshing Pilsner qualities are there albeit lightly. Grain and bready tones are sewn in a easy to drink package.

It's difficult to review Pilsners as they are not overly complex and by nature don't get high scores. This is a quality addition to the genre just a taste weak.
