Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: aerozeppl on 06-18-2010

This beer may have a cheeky name, but don’t be fooled; it is modeled after fine European pilsners to be light and crisp. Aromatic Noble hop varieties, 2-row malted barley and European style pilsner malt contribute to this pale beer’s smooth character.

This poured out as a clear yellow color with a fizzy white head on top. The smell of the beer was lightly hopped with some earthy and grassy grains on the nose. The taste of the beer was light and crisp, it had some grainy flavors with the bitter hops finishing it off. The mouthfeel was very light and highly carbonated. Overall it's a pretty good drinkable brew. Nothing too special about it but I think it's alright.

A: Pours a crystal clear straw color with 2 fingers of white head. Moderate carbonation and spotty lacing.

N: Clean pilsner malts, grassy noble hops and some slight sulfur.

T: Follows the nose dead on. Pilsner malt, grass and lemon. Has a nice little hop bite in the finish.

M: Medium bodied, crisp, clean and semi-dry.

O: Not complex but very refreshing and easy drinking. Nicely balanced with a slight bitterness. A very nice Czech Pils!

Poured into a Pilsner Glass

Appearance - Very Pale Straw Color that is about as clear as you can get. Small amounts of carbonation. Head pours around 1 finger in width that doesn't disappear but rather flattens out.

Smell - Malts and Barley along with some Yeasts. The entire smell is over-compassed by this very grassy smell.

Taste - Very Malty in flavor, along with some slight grassy hop flavors and yeasts. Nothing bad, but nothing great. Overall, very average tasting for a Pilsner.

Mouthfeel - The body is light and feels crisp. The carbonation is more on the average side, but it's easy to drink and feels good on the palate.

Overall - Aside from feeling refreshing, this is a very average Pilsner. It's good for knocking back with a snack or outside on a hot day, but this Pilsner leaves something more to be desired

Really dry and crisp, comes off more as a Helles. "022 12" date code on the bottle, so it's relatively fresh.

Saturated bright gold color, thin layer of white foam. Spotty lace, thin unbroken skim across the surface.

Wet barley smell, slightly sulfuric. Aspirin/medicinal/green hops. Light flavors of barley and husky grains, very crisp and clean, with plenty of simple flavors that coalesce. Feel is lean and drinkable, light carbonation. A very Germanic impression, not sure Czech Pils fits here, but it's intentionally ill defined.

Paired well with cured pork loin.

Pours a half finger of white head. Color is a clear golden yellow.

Aroma: A lot more bready malts here. Much more czech than the German version I just had. A little citrus and fruity esters. Grassy hops.

Taste: Again, a lot of bready malts. More hops here though. Very grassy and herbal. Some citrusy fruits. Zesty.

Mouthfeel: Dry, crisp, and clean. Light bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Ends dry.

Overall, this was a decent pils. A little too malty though. I could have used a little more floral hops. Still, pretty drinkable.

a: clear pale straw color, inch of creamy white head quickly settles to a frothy cap, not much retention or lacing.

s: sweet grassy aromas with a touch of hops.

t: pretty standard for the style, nice clean grassy and sweet malt presence with a little hop bite on the finish.

m: clean and crisp, good carbonation nd a slight dry finish.

o: nice pilsner, will buy again and also recommend to others. just a nice clean refreshing beer.

A-clear golden. lots of bubbles, no head

S-smells like a pale euro lager. faint scent.

T-comes in with a taste of a fairly bitter pale euro lager. good flavor of grains. the bitterness lasts with the after-taste and has a biscuity flavor to it. easy drinking

M-medium carbonation with a super dry finish

O-probably one of my least favorite ST beers. it really does have that trashy taste to it that i dislike about a lot of the pale european lagers. there are just so many other good pilsners that i'd recommend. doesn't stand up to Farmers Tan or Krampus.

Poured into a pint glass. This one pours a light golden straw color with just a this layer of white foam that settles down to nothing.

Pretty uninspiring aroma here. Faint grassy hops with a little bit of toasty malts. Nothing bad, but a little bit of boring side. Pretty nice biscuity malts with a little bit of a bitter hop finish.

The body is light with good crisp carbonation. Overall not a bad beer but not a great one either. There's other stuff I'll always grab. File this under average.

In a pilsner glass the beer was a light gold color with a tiny white head. There was a smidge of lace.

A rather nondescript aroma. Hints of grass, pepper, and sweet malt. Nice, but not great.

Taste similar to aroma. Sweet biscuit and a hint of grassy hops. Again, nice but not great.

The beer was crisp and refreshing, and was easy to drink.

Pours a crystal clear golden yellow color with a skim head that leaves lines of lace on the glass at some points. The aroma is of grains and a sweet malt. The taste follows close suit with a grainy taste with hints of grassiness and a touch of citrus. The mouthfeel is moderately carbonated and crisp and clean. Overall it was a decent pils, a nice flavor with a good pils mouthfeel profile.

A-Clear Straw yellow, one finger head, some carbonation

S-Grainy, malt and some butter

T-A complete 180 from the nose when warm. Cold it follows the nose but as she warmed some spices, slight balanced bitterness with grassy and lemon notes.

M-Light in body, smooth with decent carbonation.

O-At first I was not pleased with this beer, but as it warmed more flavors came out and it became nicely balanced.

Pours a pure white 1 finger fizzy head that fades semi quickly at first before slowing, with pot marked head, over brilliantly clear golden straw colored beer.

Nose is typical pilsner, some cracked straw, toasted wheat like malts, bit of a juicy lager fruit, crisp lager as well, touch of fruit, and hints of floral hops, with a bit of a lager yeast aroma.

Taste is nice, crisp lager, light toasty straw malt pils, light toasted wheat, bit of juicy malt, plenty of lager flavors with a light fruit and crispness as well as yeast, even hints of toasted bready malts. Then hops, with a nice floral hop but a hint of spicy cascade family earthiness and spicy quality but not heavy or overpowering, with a decent bitterness that gets slightly herbal. Finish is dry and crisp, a bit more of the earthy spicy like hops, a nice long bitter finish, slightly herbal but earthy and spicy at the same time and never too much, hint of straw and pilsner flavors lingering.

Mouth is a bit lighter bodied but on par with the style, decent carb.

Overall pretty good, the hops may get a bit too much for what it is considering they seem more American style hops that get a bit spicy and earthy rather than noble hops, which might be the only downfall of the beer. Otherwise nice malts, drinkable, tasty, no real off flavors except perhaps a bit of the yeast flavor coming through (and the hops a bit much). I'm surprised this has such a low rating, although not too surprised considering the typical American palate is not a huge fan of the lighter but still tasty beers, especially pilsners and lagers overall.

From notes:

Appearance: Pours a clear golden color with a bright white head around a finger thick.

Aroma: Floral hops, grassy notes, a little bit of dryness in the nose. Touches of bready malts.

Taste: Nice amount of crispness in the mouthfeel. Good amount of dry floral hop along side light bready malts. In the tail end is a wisp of lemon zest.

Notes: Nice and drinkable good crispness. Cheers.

Shiny golden yellow body, tons of carbonation streams, excellent clarity, topped by a slightly disappointing half-finger of level snow white foam.

Nice solid fresh grass/hay aroma.

Slight sweet beginning. A bit wimpy. Minor bitterness builds to a smallish bite. Everything clears out in the aftertaste, with a hint of bitterness the last sensation.

Wishy washy mouthfeel, light, too light.

Overall, an unimpressive pils, stick to the likes of Victory or Stoudts.

Pours a crisp yellow with a thin head into my glass. Very welcoming sight after drinking plenty of darker beers all winter.

Grassy, sweet and floral notes in the nose. Very clean presentation here.

Very crisp with a good load of hops and sweet, bready malt. Mmm.

Medium carbonation clashes with the other flavors but it does not detract too much from the overall vibe.

A clean, crisp tribute to excellent european pilseners.

Southern Tier Eurotrash Pilz has a completely clear, golden colored body with a lot of active carbonation bubbles leading to a very soapy looking, white head. The retention and lacing are both very good, and overall I would consider this Eurotrash to look pretty good.

The aroma has a bit of floral hops to it that is backed up with a lot of pale, sweet malts.

The flavor is fairly balanced between hops and malt. The hops come through first, with a lot of floral and grassy flavors, as well as some lemon. The malt base is quite sweet and completely pale. Flavors of cracker and bread come through as well.

High carbonation and very light feeling.

I really thought that Eurotrash was close to the trash European pilsners than the quality Czech and German versions that I have tried. It is by no means terrible, but I doubt I will be in a hurry to try

If not for being Southern Tier and the funny name, I would never pick up a Czech Pilsner. Eurotrash Pilz is a translucent light gold that shimmers with the rising bubbles from the laser etching that continues to build the head. Light floral spicey hop over a corn and light malt. Hoppiness is clean and pleasant on the tongue, slight carbonic bite and a sweet apple and malt body that's light but not overly thin. A good representation of the style and fun to drink for what it's supposed to be. If you like Czech Pilz or funny names, pick one up for fun.

Clear and golden, not a whole lot of head or lace.

Smell is grainy, with a light hoppiness and just a touch of notable earthy malt. Taste pretty much follows, with a pretty tasty crisp hops accent to a slightly slick, somewhat sweet malt backbone, finished up by grassy notes.

Body is light and a little slick with a slightly sweet, lightly hoppy aftertaste.

It's tasty but isn't one of ST's top beers. Would be nice in cans for fishin' though.

Review from notes. Had on tap at the Pickled Pig.

A: The beer is a light golden color with a small white head that reduces quickly and leaves thin and sporadic lacing.

S: Some light, grainy malt, very faint floral hops, and a bit of lemon. Rather faint.

T: Sight floral/citrus hop flavor right away followed up by some bready malt and lager yeast.

M: Light to medium bodied, crisp and smooth. Easy drinking.

O: A decent pils, probably not one I would go back to. Certainly others I would prefer over it.

Poured a Bright Clear yellow, with a small fluffy white as snow head. Smells skunky, but it was fresh. Taste is Light hops, Grainy, fizzy....I don't know, There are better Pilz brews out there (Victory,Lagunitas,Sam Adams, great lakes...) I "May" try again 1 day, to see if I had a bad bottle, but this was not very good.

Poured from an undated 12 oz. bottle: very attractive, clear golden with a too quickly receding white-head. This was a deep gold similar to the Czech style.

Very solidly pilsner in aroma with the inviting spicy aromas of noble hops and some bready/yeasty aromas.

There can be little variation in a pilsner: just make sure all of the typical characteristics are highlighted. Southern Tier does a good job: the fresh, sweet and crisp malt flavors with the teasingly tangy but pleasant hop bitterness. While this one has the hue of a Czech, the rather sharp, hop forward profile is more with a German.

Rather thin bodied, even for a light and refreshing pilsner with moderate carbonation. The mouthfeel is slick and fleeting with little of the faint malt sweetness remaining on the tongue.

Overall, I good pilsner that has the added advantage of being fresh, although if I am in the mood for this style, I would reach for others. That includes some better imports, as well.

Pours pale gold with a pillowy pure white head. Some scarce bubbles climbing up the center of the glass. Nose is mostly malt with some herbal hop character. Taste is crisp malt, peppery hops, some vague piney character, and a little bit of diacetyl. The mouthfeel is damn near perfect--light on the tongue, a little buttery, and a crisp finish. Overall, a very solid take on a traditional German pils, but nothing to go nuts over--there are better for the money you'll spend on this.

12 ounce bottle - $1.49 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. DOB 01/18/12.

Appearance: Pours a crystalline, straw-hued body with a well frothed, white, sudsy head.

Smell: Pils malt with accents of grain and dough and, though scantly, honey, too. Lemon-scented, floral, lightly spicy hops.

Taste: A clean, lightly sweet taste of pilsner maltiness with a faint kiss of wildflower honey. Light hint of grainy, gently-kneaded bread dough. Light lemon and spice from the hops with ample bitterness to balance out the initial sweetness and leaving one with a dry, crispish finish.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation, fairly sudsy.

Overall: Crisp, clean, and refreshing. I'll probably grab a six-er or two once the sweltering spring and summer hit in Georgia.

First had: on tap at Prohibition Taproom, Philly, PA

Poured a golden yellow color, crystal clear, moderately carbonated, with a small white head that fizzled out pretty quickly. Aroma was light and bready with a light, crisp hoppiness. Biscuity taste, pale malts, light hops...pretty simple. Light mouthfeel, and pretty easily drinkable, just not really my style.
