Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer may have a cheeky name, but don’t be fooled; it is modeled after fine European pilsners to be light and crisp. Aromatic Noble hop varieties, 2-row malted barley and European style pilsner malt contribute to this pale beer’s smooth character.

Poured on-tap and served in a stemmed pilsner glass, the beer is a heavily carbonated, light, vibrant honey-gold coloring with a thick, dense, big bubbled, white head. Aromas are subtle and clean, with a toasty backbone and some light floral highlights. Flavors are a little more biscuit and toast, with a creamy butter overtone and some tangy, resiny hops at the end of the profile. Decent lacing that clings to the glass. The aftertaste is more heavy on the hops, both floral and bitter, leading to a clean, slightly dry finish. With the constant flow of carbonation, the beer has a surprisingly smooth, full body. Tasty beer.

Pours a crisp yellow with a thin head into my glass. Very welcoming sight after drinking plenty of darker beers all winter.

Grassy, sweet and floral notes in the nose. Very clean presentation here.

Very crisp with a good load of hops and sweet, bready malt. Mmm.

Medium carbonation clashes with the other flavors but it does not detract too much from the overall vibe.

A clean, crisp tribute to excellent european pilseners.

Clear pale color thats super bubbly. Great head and lacing!

Clean and grassy fresh hops. Light, freshly toasted malts. Good pilsner aroma.

Crisp, lightly toasted malt. Clean hops. A little heavier on the malt than hops. Great taste and refreshing. Super sessionable with good flavor.

I like this pilsener a lot and will buy again.

Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a light golden straw. Minimal head dissipates quickly to a ring around the glass, no lacing. Light aroma of bready malt, hint of wheat and sulfur. Flavor is very light, bready malt, a hint of hops. Finish is more flavorful bready malt and a light floral and fruit taste that leaves a pleasant aftertaste. Light bodied, but decent carbonation despite the lack of a head. A somewhat lackluster pilsner redeemed by the quite nice finish. Refreshing.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: light yellow-gold color with a clear body and nice effervescence. Head is a minimal finger of frothy white foam. Decent.

Smell: mild, dry malt aroma with a notable noble hop character. Unfortunately, there's a plasticy adjunct aroma floating around in there too which really detracts from the picture.

Taste: dry malt with more of the adjunct plastic and a noble, somewhat citrusy hop character. There's also an acidity and bitterness which do not play well together here. I'm rather disappointed in this brew.

Mouthfeel: light body with a good level of carbonation and a refreshingly stimulating mouthfeel.

Overall: not a terrible beer, but there are flavor flaws here past which I just can't get.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pilsener glass. Had a pale yellow color and a clear texture. There was a small amount of creamy head that quickly dissipated. Not much lacing.

S: A nicely hoppy aroma, with traces of malt and citrus as well.

T: Tasted of hops and lemon up front, with a lot of malt in the finish. A typical pilsener flavor, to be sure, but still very focused and enjoyable.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a dry, smooth finish. Light-bodied.

O: Not exactly a super-complex brew, but enjoyable and easy to drink.

A - Clear, light apple juice yellow. Pure white head with low ok retention and lace. Lively carbonation in the glass.

S - Lemon, sweet breadyness, soft yeast.

T - Crisp lemon, snappy mineral center with a light malt sweetness, dry green bitter finish.

M - Light, medium-light to style. Nice smoothness. Par carbonation.

O - Clean and crisp with great drinkability. Done well to style.

The "seasonal" caught me off guard. I did get this from NY and thankfully it's fresh.

A - The brightest of golden hues. Not as much head as expected but lacing is great.

S - A bit of lemon hops (zesty) maybe some bread but overall mild.

T - Crisp but not overly skunk with pills malts, hops are nice and the finish is like a honey sweet bread.

M - Light of course but great for a pills.

Overall I don't think I will see this much around here but it's another great beer from Southern Tier. Glad to have ordered this.

Pours a clean pale yellow color with a white head. In the aroma, just like the name, just like a Euro pils. In the taste, a small Saaz hop and a clean standard pils taste. A small bite and medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry and clean aftertaste. A clean European pils, nothing exciting, but clean and fresh.

Born 18th Jan 2012. $1.99 single from The Village Pump

Pouring a clear straw yellow with some floaties, there's a dense, creamy white head that recedes to a disk leaving some lace. It looks pleasant enough, but the first whiff I take tells me something is seriously wrong here. Yes, there's a fairly nice noble hop character present, but there's also a rather intense eggy character, sulfurous and unpleasant. Along with that, there's crushed aspirin, again, unpleasant. I really can't draw out much of a malt aroma here, maybe some doughy character? Disappointing.

The palate opens with a rather metallic character along with sulfur and a definite plsaticy/medicinal character. Chlorophenols? Fermentation too warm? There is some hop flavor and some malt flavor as well, but the flaws here really get in the way of my evaluating them. Fairly neutral malts, with a mild earthy bitterness and a nice hop flavor, this actually has a nice, rounded hop character. The flaws, though ruin it. On the bright side, some of the off flavors do dissipate as I let the beer sit, but this isn't a style that should require decanting. Carbonation is high, probably appropriately enough, but I doubt my drain is going to care if it weren't.

12oz bottle, pours golden with nice clarity and an off-white head that dissipates rather quickly and leaves little lacing on the glass. Aromas are pilsner malt, grassy, reminds me of a hot summer day for some reason. Lawnmower beer, perhaps? Tastes are a little bland with piilnser malt, grain, sour grape, and apple juice with a hop bite on the finish that is a little harsh with some metallic notes lingering. Mouth-feel is rather thin, but carbonation is appropriate. Overall, I'm not wowed by this one at all. Pretty average for the style, hence the 3's across the board.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with no apparent bottling or expiration date. Sampled on April 2, 2014.

It looks exactly like a pilsner should with its pale yellow, well carbonated color building up to a huge white head. So I can't give it a bad mark for how it looks as far as the style goes.

I can mark it down in the aroma category which comes across as grassy and somewhat skunked, even though it did not come from a green bottle. But all I could think of was green-bottle skunkiness when I took my first whiff. A touch of toasted biscuit malt.

The body is light and refreshing.

The taste has a bit of the toasted biscuit malt character with a clean, crisp hop finale. The taste is a slight improvement over the nose but it is generally pretty average. Oh well, today got up to 55 degrees so it hit the spot.

This beer proves that a good pils can look like what BMC claims to be without lacking flavor or resorting to inferior ingredients. It looks, for all intents and purposes, what BMC advertises in commercials and on packaging. It's pale gold, completely clear and bubbly. A pillow of pure white head is fluffy and sits almost 2 fingers tall initially. Lacing is left in tight webbing, then patching, then spotting.
Sulfuric Saaz hops are right up front in the nose, and it's clear this isn't a weak BMC. Hops are showcased here but balanced by a doughy malt. A bit of light sweetness with floral notes to it rounds it out some.
There's a bit of grains that avoids the impression of cereal character before hops smack the palate. It provides a biting spiciness as well before some bready malts come in to soften it up. This is certainly on the hoppy side for a pils, and I feel the malts and a touch of light sweetness keep it from going abrasive in the finish, which it seems it might otherwise.
It's as light as I'd expect, though a far cry from the thin feel of some efforts, pretty well verging into medium. It's got a constant crispness as well as carbonation, and it's clean.

A: Pours a clear, pale yellow with a thin white head that dissipates very quickly.

S: Aromas of grain, minerals, rosewater, herbs, grass, honey, and lemon are present on the nose.

T: Notes of minerals, lemon, herbs, grass, grain, honey, and rosewater wash across the palate. The finish is clipped with lemon, herb, grass, and mineral notes.

M: Medium-to-full in body, waxy, and a bit stickier than expected. Carbonation is very prickly. As beers of this type go, this is far from easy to drink. Unexpectedly filling and bloating for the style.

O: This beer has done little to convince me that American craft brewers handle European lagers well. Compared to many of the Czech classics, this lager is sorely lacking. Everything about it is just a little off. Although it is not bad really, the aromas and flavors displayed by this beer are too simple and too straight-forward and the carbonation is far too forceful. There is not a lot of depth, complexity, or subtlety here and the whole package is a bit too unrefined for my liking. Again, it is not really that bad, but it does seem a bit dumbed down compared to the beers it tries to emulate.
