Poured from my growler into a Brooklyn Brewery snifter. Pours super-dark with a majestic, fluffy, light tan head. Good retention and nice lacing. On the nose I get some light roasty notes and a little chocolate, but it's very faint.
Nice full body and excellent flavor balance. Big sweet malty notes up front are joined by bittersweet chocolate and roasty flavors. There definitely is some nice milky sweetness in there too, but not enough to overpower the bitterness. There is just enough to provide a harmony of flavor. Mouthfeel is sadly a bit on the thin side, but it doesn't detract from the experience much at all. Really a nice, well constructed milk stout.
This beer has just what you want in a sweet stout. Highly recommended for fans of the style or for those who want to explore the dark world of stouts but don't yet feel up to a big imperial stout.

a. dark brown/ black on the pour. Careful, the head sneaks up on you. Starts near nothing, but blossoms to a full 3 finger height. Head is tan/brown in color and sits on top the beer for a while at roughly 1/3" Lacing is nice.
s. Smell of yeast dominates the after poor, giving way to malt.
t. Malt, not as sweet as I had hoped, but somewhere between outstanding and very, very good. Rounded up to a 4.
m. Excellent up front, but seems to be a grit in the finish.
O. Reminds me of a Sam Adams cream stout, which is a compliment. Not as creamy, but a solid stout. Do not be scared off by the 'sweet' title.

Pours black, just about opaque. The hops and grains unexpectedly dominate the smell, though the typical chocolate stout scent is found just beneath. The semi-sweet chocolate becomes the most obvious to taste, with a grainy, bitter hops lingering in the finish. It has a very light mouth feel, with an appropriate amount of carbonation. A decent stout, however there is nothing that makes it stand out in stand out in a crowd.
