Had this on draft at work. The perks of filling growlers..

Poured into a pint glass.

The look of the beer was nice. Dark, as it should be, with a nice foamy head. My only qualm being the retention may not have been up to snuff with what I had expected from such a reputable brewer.

The nose is heavy on the lactose end. No qualms with that considering the style. Slight hints of chocolate breaking through.

The taste was quite nice. Very creamy. There's a nice bit of sweet milk chocolate coming through in the end.Not picking up any bite from the booze. Imagine Chocolat's little brother.

Mouthfeel was a bit thin considering the style. Luscious, creamy, but maybe a bit too easy to suck down for a stout.

Another quality offering from a superb American craft brewer. Tough to disagree with most things Southern Tier.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass

A- pours black with a three finger light brown head that fades quickly. Looks like a quality stout

S- mild aroma of milk chocolate and lactase

T- very sweet tasting, with the lactase dominating all flavors....getting hints of chocolate as well, but the sweetness is dominant. Not necessarily a bad thing, after all, it is a milk stout

M- medium bodied

O- about part for the course, but still very good. The ABV is hidden very well in this one, and you get a nice bang for your buck with it. Most milk stouts cost roughly the same about per sixer, and have much less alcohol

Pours with a 1-2F creamy tan head over a deep, opaque brown body. Head fades to solid film, with decent lacing.

Aromas carry much of the lactic nature. Milk chocolate, and light bittersweet roast.

Nice dark chocolate soufflee, meringue, cream, roasted malt, and coffee bean. Not too sweet.

Mouthfeel might be a touch thin for something claiming to be a double stout, however, is still above average as Milk Stouts go.

This was the last of my six pack, and overall, it was a very enjoyable beer.

Pours a very dark black with some brownish hues. A centimeter of tan head dissipates to leave just a light lace.

Nice aroma of coffee, roasted malts and what comes off as noble hops.

Medium to full-bodied with a very nice bitterness to sweetness. The roasted characters couple with the lactose and work well together. Crisp and finishing fairly dry. Hop bitterness adds another dimension and really helps this to bite the tip of the tongue and finish dry.

The 7.5% abv is very hard to notice. Just a slight warming in the finish and in the belly. Another solid example from Southern Tier.

Poured into an imperial pint glass.

A: Pours a transparent black with red highlights. Has less than 1 finger of white head that dissipates quickly and thin webbed lacing.

N: Coffee & cream along with milk chocolate and marshmallow.

T: Cola and watered down chocolate upfront. Some bitterness comes through mid-palate with cocoa nibs and a splash of black coffee. Finishes bitter with charred earth along with hints of lactose. There are some subtle hints on lemon citrus in there throughout.

M: Light-medium bodied, semi-creamy, smooth and dry.

O: This is actually kind of bitter for a cream stout. There is a good roasty quality to it along with some light tones of milk. Not bad.
