Southern Tier Oak-Aged Back-burner
From 3/22/14 tasting notes. Split this one with my bro. This was poured out of a 22 oz bottle into a couple pint glasses.
A) Darker amber with a little haze. Not much head, maybe half a finger. A light tan collar remained. No lacing noted.
S) Nice sweet malt, good amount of the oak, and hint of raisin and dried cherries.
T) Follows the nose... Loving the sweetness of this brew. Light hop bitterness. Very woody.... The alcohol is very well hidden, even as this warms.
M) Smooth with a woody coating for your palate. Medium bodied with lighter carbonation.
O) I'd go for this again... A very nice barley wine to sip on. I've probably over scored a few barley wines in the past compared to this one, because it's definitely right up there.
