12 oz brown bottle with an excellent Christmas style labeling. Real eye candy for me as I didn't even know it was out til the bottle quickly drew my eye. Just an awesome Seasonal color scheme and label more than appropriate for the Christmas season. Poured into a Belgian style stemmed tulip.

A - dark Christmas red which features a hint of bright orange corners when In the light. Sensational color and reminds me of some sort of red Christmas ornament hanging from a tree. Darker in color but still a clear body. Light tan/beige colored head didn't have a lot of size but was there leaving just a touch of stick from its tiny ring of lace.

S - spices up front: cinnamon, ginger, Clove with a touch of all spice. Cardamom and orange peel. Dark fruit with ripe fig and a caramel malt backbone. Very gingerbread like malt finish.

T - cinnamon and clove give a big spice character up front followed by some orange peel and a near sweet ginger bread note in the middle. Finish is caramel and bread like malt that's quickly followed by another hit of cinnamon spice and a slap of bitter malt.

M - medium bodied with good texture. The spices are a nice trend and the feel is pretty smooth. The points it does lack for me is the balance. This is a pretty complex brew but Its a bit jumbled together instead of free flowing.

O - a good take on a Christmas beer. Spice may be a bit sharp for some, but if spices are your thing like they are mine then grab this offering. It's a well crafted style and a bit odd, but tasty nonetheless.

If you love spices, especially cloves, you're in for a treat. Unfortunately, I despise cloves! Sadly, it's the 1st beer I've EVER poured down the drain after having 2 sips. Wish I checked my BA app before buying the 6 pack. My fault.

On tap at Yardhouse.
Deep red-brown with a head that soon reduced to a ring. Minimal lacing.
Both the aroma and the flavor reflect a heavy use of nutmeg. There are some other spices in here too, but the overall spicing level is just too high, largely masking the malts.

Way too heavy on the ginger. Taste similar to a very bitter shaving cream.

Not for me. Way too much spice. I haven't dumped a beer down the drain since summer, but this was just not enjoyable for me. My ratings were generous.

OKAY, words cannot describe how bad this beer is. It has a beautiful color just like the 2X IPA, but it smells like a bad candle. And the taste, what on earth were they thinking? First off to take a beer as hoppy and citrisy as their 2X IPA and mix it with cinnamon seems bad enough, but it's like they put half a container of it in every beer. It has a painful taste, like chugging a bottle of cinnamon, I truly have no idea how anyone enjoys this beer and at the craft beer store I work at it is EASILY the most hated beer among the staff not just of the seasonals but of any beers. Never would expect this from Southern Tier.

Ruby brown in color. The nose is spicy but nutmeg stands out above anything else. The flavor profile includes seasonal spices such as nutmeg and allspice but also orange as well. The finish is semi-dry.

This is a pretty darn good Christmas beer.

Poured into a nonic a deep amber tinged brown with very little head to speak of,what there was was off white color.Deep fig and winter spice notes in the nose, alcohol and fruit cake notes linger.Candied figs with the orange peel underneath on the palate, cakey and rich with mild drying hops to keep the sweetness from going over the top.The lack of carbonation is actually good in the feel,it's mellow and almost chewey.A real warmer and true to the CHRISTmas season.

A: A medium-dark copper with good clarity. The head a a better than average retention and is light tan.

S: The cardamom with it's lemony slight exotic notes and the clove are the first things I smell which blend very nicely with the orange peel aroma. It doesn't smell overly spice, it smells balanced and restrained like a brew that wants to let you taste a beer not potpourri. There is a light malt sweetness and touch of caramel and if there are any citrus hops the'd be covered by the orange peel and cardamom. There is a light fruit aroma as well of figs and prunes. There is a moderately-light ginger aroma that kind of ties everything together.

T: The figs come through in the flavor with moderate spice flavors of cinnamon and ginger with lighter flavors of clove and ginger. There is some lemony flavor and orange peel as well. The malt sweetness provides support and is paired with a moderately-light hops bitterness. The balances is slight sweet with a medium finish.

M: A medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. A very light prickle of astringency on the tongue that is unavoidable when brewing with spices and doesn't detract.

O: Not a bad holiday spiced beer that showcases the spices but has enough balance to still drinkable. I was nervous when about the brewers description saying this is double spiced but is isn't as strongly spiced as other beers I have both commercial and homebrewed.

I really like this seasonal ale brewed with "figs, orange peels, and spices." It is smooth and flavorful on the palate, not a all hoppy, and the 8 percent alcohol completely missed me until I read the label. It's a very nice ale flavor, not a strong "anything" in the mouth, except for good flavor, and perfect for a cold winter's day or night. Not my first tasting, to mention. This is my third or fourth over the past month, and it's still a whole lot of winter fun and flavorful ale!

12 ounce bottle. "DOB 10/22/12" etched onto the bottle.

Pours a nice warm shade of darker amber, with a dark ruby glow. Moderate sized dark tan head. Nothing special, film, collar and lace.

The nose is loaded with holiday spice.

Flavorful, fruity, sweet, highly spiced...tastes like a holiday fruit cake, in a good way. On the heavier side mouthfeel wise. Would work well with holiday desserts or as a holly jolly night capper. I like it

Appearance: 1/3 inch head, brownish-red in color, clear, high carbonation

Smell: fig, toasted malt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and other spices

Taste:fig, big caramel, clove, and cinnamon

Mouthfeel: sweet with slight bitterness, high carbonation, light bodied

Overall: Really tasty holiday brew...lots of malty sweetness and enough holiday spice..One of their better small bottle beers..I will pick this up again.
