Live review. Poured from the growler that I had filled at World Wines & Liquor in Mentor, Ohio last week for $10.99 into a clean, clear glass.

A Pleasing 2 inch light brown, creamy head takes several minutes to dissipate down to a thin layer of a translucent, dark brown or mohagany body. Pleasing look. I really like the thick, confident head. 4.5

S Warmth of figs and spices over a malt backdrop and little hops bitterness in the smell. Really nice "warm" smell that welcomes you in. 4.0

T The warmth from the smell carries right into the taste. This is a not overly sweet malt based beer which is akin to a cookie rather than a spoonful of molasses or honey. There is a nice grain body to the beer and the spices and figs complement it all nicely. I really like the taste of this beer. After some repeated sips...and my second glass...I have noticed a kind of a dropping off of the taste...it kind of flattens out after the beginning and middle taste. 4.0

M Nice grain bigness through most of the feel but again it kind of drops off and settles into a lingering malt and spice aftertaste. 3.5

D/O Drinkability is quite good for the elevated ABV of this 8.0% beer. Overall this is a fine seasonal beer. I enjoyed it and I believe that you will too. 4.0

Poured into a nonic a deep amber tinged brown with very little head to speak of,what there was was off white color.Deep fig and winter spice notes in the nose, alcohol and fruit cake notes linger.Candied figs with the orange peel underneath on the palate, cakey and rich with mild drying hops to keep the sweetness from going over the top.The lack of carbonation is actually good in the feel,it's mellow and almost chewey.A real warmer and true to the CHRISTmas season.

A: A medium-dark copper with good clarity. The head a a better than average retention and is light tan.

S: The cardamom with it's lemony slight exotic notes and the clove are the first things I smell which blend very nicely with the orange peel aroma. It doesn't smell overly spice, it smells balanced and restrained like a brew that wants to let you taste a beer not potpourri. There is a light malt sweetness and touch of caramel and if there are any citrus hops the'd be covered by the orange peel and cardamom. There is a light fruit aroma as well of figs and prunes. There is a moderately-light ginger aroma that kind of ties everything together.

T: The figs come through in the flavor with moderate spice flavors of cinnamon and ginger with lighter flavors of clove and ginger. There is some lemony flavor and orange peel as well. The malt sweetness provides support and is paired with a moderately-light hops bitterness. The balances is slight sweet with a medium finish.

M: A medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. A very light prickle of astringency on the tongue that is unavoidable when brewing with spices and doesn't detract.

O: Not a bad holiday spiced beer that showcases the spices but has enough balance to still drinkable. I was nervous when about the brewers description saying this is double spiced but is isn't as strongly spiced as other beers I have both commercial and homebrewed.

I really like this seasonal ale brewed with "figs, orange peels, and spices." It is smooth and flavorful on the palate, not a all hoppy, and the 8 percent alcohol completely missed me until I read the label. It's a very nice ale flavor, not a strong "anything" in the mouth, except for good flavor, and perfect for a cold winter's day or night. Not my first tasting, to mention. This is my third or fourth over the past month, and it's still a whole lot of winter fun and flavorful ale!

12 ounce bottle. "DOB 10/22/12" etched onto the bottle.

Pours a nice warm shade of darker amber, with a dark ruby glow. Moderate sized dark tan head. Nothing special, film, collar and lace.

The nose is loaded with holiday spice.

Flavorful, fruity, sweet, highly spiced...tastes like a holiday fruit cake, in a good way. On the heavier side mouthfeel wise. Would work well with holiday desserts or as a holly jolly night capper. I like it

Taste:fig, big caramel, clove, and cinnamon

Mouthfeel: sweet with slight bitterness, high carbonation, light bodied

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Imperial Pint.

Appearance: Hazy, dark reddish-orange with thin cream colored head.

Smell: Figs and other fruits, cinnamon, and orange peel.

Taste: Pretty sweet core of figs, plum and caramel. Great mix of spices, such as cinnamon, ginger and orange peel. Very Christmas like, with the mix of spices and sweet decadence. It also reminds me a little of Pumking, which makes sense.

Feel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Finish is a little tingly from the spices, but not really dry. Usually a sweet finish bugs me, but not here.

Overall: This beer just screams Christmas, with its crazy spices and ultra sweet core. But I think it is great.
