Clear amber color with a thick head with medium retention.
Delicious aroma with strong predominant notes of mint. Hint of tangerines recently peeled and honey lemon.
Intense fruity and citric flavor with notes of grapefruit, peppery American yeast, earthy and herbal hops, pine, mint, biscuit and slightly toasted malts, tangerines and resin.
Light body with perfect carbonation and a slightly acid sensation.
Very good APA, tasty with good citrus complexity and still very easy to drink.

On tap at the Tipperary Pub.

Appearance: Very yellow golden color, crystal clear, decent white head that left some lacing

Smell: Very hoppy, herbal, floral, and piney hops

Taste: Again, very hoppy, herbal, floral, earthy, piney hops. There is a noticeable malt backbone, but enough to keep things light and balanced. Not too much bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body, good carbonation.

Overall: This is a pretty solid APA, hoppier than standard for the style, but whats not to like about hops? Would gladly get again.

Poured on-tap and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a bright, golden-straw coloring with a thin, filmy, clingy, bright white head. Lots of carbonation throughout the body. Aromas of resin and grassy hops, with lemon and grapefruit tart and sweet highlights. Some floral highlights on the nose as well. Flavors of tart citrus sharply hit the forward tongue, with a blast of resin and bitter on the midtongue. The palate is a bit out of balance. Light, effervesced body that comes off sharp in places. The aftertaste is very tart and slightly bitter, again out of balance. Also some earthy and barnyard notes into the aftertaste. Tangy sweetness lingers into the finish, which is light, very crisp, and clean.

Sampled at Santora's Pizza in Amherst.

Pours a pale gold, with a foamy, dense white head that is just beautiful. Awesome retention with a thick film of lacing left behind. Pay attention: this is how a pale ale should look.

Tangy fruit on the nose, big citrus characters with passionfruit tang. Somewhat Southern hemisphere notes come through, pine and lychee with some spicy pine needle. Very enticing indeed.

Taste is a little subdued. Plenty of hop with lychee, pineapple and passion flavours. Lime and candied orange as well. Overall though a little lacking in malt. Nice hop notes but there just isn't all that much there.

Foamy feel, almost sudsy. Bit of fizz. OK for style.

Very nice pale, just wanting a little more oomph on the palate.

Pours a hazy orange-ish to yellow color with an off white head. In the aroma, a small hop presence and malt balance. In the taste, a lighter pine like hops and balanced malt, a touch thin though. A small hop bite, but mainly smooth and a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a small hop dryness in the aftertaste. Truthfully, just a nice nice pale without over hopping at all.

From 07/08/13 notes. Had this on tap at Ginger Man in NYC. 16 oz pour in a tulip.

a - Pours a hazy, burnt orange-golden color with one inch of off white head and low carbonation evident.

s - Smells of tropical fruits, fruity malts, mango, pineapple, citrus, lemon-lime, wheat, and bready malts. Awesome nose, tons of tropical fruits to it and some light citrus. Really liking the nose.

t - Tastes of fruity malts, light tropical fruits, citrus hops, grapefruit, wheat, grains, and lemon zest. Nice, but seems a bit watered down compared to the great nose. More citrus and grapefruit than the nose, but less mango and tropical fruits.

m - Medium body and low carbonation. Body is very smooth and easy to drink. Great mouthfeel.

o - Overall I liked this one quite a bit. i thought the nose was awesome with tons of tropical fruits, and the mouthfeel was great; smooth, creamy, and easy to drink. Taste was not as strong, though it is good, with less tropical fruits. Worth checking out and something I'd definitely have again.

On tap at the 2013 Firestone Walker Invitational held at the Paso Robles Event Center in Paso Robles, CA.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus zest, and onion and garlic hop aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus and herbal flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that tastes better than it smells in my opinion.

One of Southern Tier's newer offerings, this continues their tradition of quality balanced, flavorful ales. The American pale ale designation is accurate, not overpoweringly hoppy with a solid pale malt base. Fruity and floral notes dominate throughout as opposed to the piney flavors of west coast hoppy ales. The live terminology refers to the active yeast in this unfiltered beer which give the beer a tart but not sour quality similar to belgian pale ales though it does not taste like a belgian yeast is used. Finishes clean and dry leaving the pallet wanting more, this is a beer that you could drink several pints of.

First had: on tap at TJ's, Paoli, PA

This was a welcome change of pace after the somewhat disappointing Dampf Loc. Hazy lighter amber pour, with a medium-sized, foamy, white head that receded to a thin layer, but never completely disappeared, and left some spotty lacing on the glass. Nice aroma crisp with fresh hops, pale malts and a bit of toastiness as well. More of the same in the taste, a good balance, fresh grassy and citrus hops, with a biscuity pale malt base. Simple and tasty. Light-medium body, easily drinkable, and worth revisiting.

Pours a bright yellowish gold color with a big frothy white head. The head gives way to a little bit of lace on the glass. The aroma you can smell as you get close, pineapple, oranges, lemons and a little bready malt at the very back. The taste follows suit pineapple, mango, oranges and lemons fill the first part of the beer with a bready malt end. The taste is very well blended and very smooth. The mouthfeel is moderately carbonated. Overall this is a very solid beer, it is a nice beer that you can enjoy multiply beers. Smooth and easy drinking.

A - Pours with two fingers of white foam on top of a clear, golden body. The head settles slowly and leaves excellent lace.

S - Light, bready malt with a bit of grapefruit and pine.

T - Sweet malt and pine up front with some fruity hop notes. More of the same in the middle with a finish of sugary grain, mild bitterness and a lingering, spicy hop character.

M - Mediuum thick body, moderate carbonation, and a sweet finish.

D - oddly sugary for the style but it has a nice hop character and remains relatively drinkable despite the sweetness.

On tap at Southern Tier:

Pours a slightly hazy bright orange with a fluffy eggshell white head. Aroma of huge citrus notes, ripe tropical fruits. This pale is dry hopped with 100% Citra and it shows. Taste takes the beer in a different direction. Tons of juicy lemon and grapefruit bitterness coats the mouth. A very slight sweetness appears at the back of the palate to balance things out a little. Very dry finish. Sort of a session IPA, which is awesome...this will be a new favorite of mine from ST. Can't wait to see this in 12 oz bottles in the next few weeks.

Poured into a perfect pint.

3.75 A: Moderately hazed orange brown color. Two fingers of frothy/creamy off-white head. Retention is very good and lots of lacing is left. A few small floaties in there.

4.5 S: Lots of citrusy hoppiness in here. HUGE orange aroma with peach and mango underneath. Mild doughy yeastiness. Sweet neutral maltiness. This smells wonderful.

3.5 T: Unlike the nose, the taste isn't nearly as impressive. Just a mild citrusy hop flavor. Mild bitterness. Light neutral malts with light yeasty breadiness.

3.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Light creaminess with just a touch of chewiness. Not bad.

3.5 D: This started out so strong, but failed to pull it off with the taste.

I purchased this at Shady McGrady's enjoyed chilled from a goblet.

The color is a golden hued amber with mild hazed look and thick white head that drops to a ring with ring of lace. The smell is fruity hops with some mild yeast ester and hint of malt aroma. The feel is decent with balance of malt sweetness and slight bitter hops with fruity and tangy yeast with moderate carbonation and semi-dry finish.

The taste is good with slight pine tinge from the hops with light citrus and slight astringent flavor like overbrewed tea with a mild malt flavor which adds sweetness to balance the slight bitter aspect. The taste of malt is pretty well interwoven with the hops and yeast as a pale should be. Overall this is a nicely flavored pale, not very complex or intense but it is good for the style

a. The head on this beer lasts and lasts. Carbonation bubbles up from the bottom of the glass for several minutes after it is poured into the glass. Color is a golden orange - hazy. Can see the yeast in glass at the time of the pour, floating upward in the glass.

s. Light smell with a fresh smell - a hint of hops, possible citrus.

t. Well balanced and light. Some citrus, some hops, some high notes.

m. Perfect. Velvety with the constant carbonation. The lingering taste is in the middle of the tongue.

o. Scores range from a 4 to a 5 on this one. Have to say it is an excellent summer choice. Refreshing, playful, light. An outstanding beer that would be welcome at BBQ's and Picnics.

Purchased this beer based on the Brewer- I've liked just about every Southern Tier beer I have had and this is no exception.

What struck me first about this beer was the nose- wow- so floral and complex- almost juicy. The smell alone made me happy.

The taste did not disappoint. While this is an APA it reminded me more of an IPA. Complex- (there goes that word again) fruity but not sweet, so many flavors going on- Just great.

Right now this is probably one of my favorite beers- it just hits me perfectly.

BOD 11/31/13. Pours a clear gold with a slight amber cast when decanted. Massive well formed head with superb lacing. Nice nose of citrus against a slightly sweet background. Very light medium body with average carbonation. The flavor profile is a mild grapefruit citrus focused bitterness against a biscuit background. A very slight spruce note is also present. The finish is clean with a lingering grapefruit flavored light bitterness. A good session ale.

I drank this right on the heels of Sixpoint Resin and Hi-Res (with pretzels in between of course). What a relief! I'm really enjoying this, my third Southern Tier pale ale (IPA and 2XIPA). Very, very balanced, floral hoppyness with enough bitter to add character but not to overwhelm. The perfect "session" beer!

Poured into a Pokal glass, a beautiful golden hew, cloudy but not chunky. Lots of tiny, little bubbles. No head but that was do to the fact I decanted it very slowly from bottle to glass, leaving an 1/8 of an inch of sediment in the bottom of the bottle. I rarely do this but Southern Tier's website suggested it, they brew this beer, I listened.

Floral hoppyness on the nose. First sip, light on the mouth, perfect carbonation, very balanced hop, orange peel, a hint of lemon, somewhat dry but very smooth. Very little lacing as I continue my consumption.

A very easy drinking APA, smooth, BALANCED, hoppy, liquid gold. Would easily buy again, cheers!

Poured in to a snifter glass with a slight tulip shape.

Very subtle hop aroma and smell, pleasantly surprising how much the malt comes out in the nose. I would have to agree with ST and say it was a light copper, almost golden or blonde. Very clear, slightly carbonated, not undercarb'd. A fair bit of sediment settled in the glass. ST says there is a hop dominated flavor, which I don't get. The taste feels very balanced to me for a Pale Ale, the finish is where I get the most hop bitterness. It's slightly sweet, but very well rounded with the malts and hops. A lot of citrus and pine, slightly fruity. Mouthfeel is light, and with a 5.5 ABV very much drinkable and feels session worthy.

From the 12. fl.oz. bottle. Sampled on January 14, 2014.

The pour is a slightly cloudy golden yellow-orange tone with a white fizzy head that is short lasting.

The aroma has a nice toasted malt character with a fruity, floral sort of hop character. Also earthy. Smells fairly fresh.

The body is light to medium.

The taste is more sweet than many IPA's but there is a kind of juicy watermelon note on it as well, which I did not expect. The fruity character tends to take it all over. Moderate bitter finale.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: Golden in color and hazy. Big, energetic, and bubbly white head. Retention is awesome and lacing is clumpy and aggressively sticky.

S: Raw leafy hops, pithy, tropical fruit aromas of mango, blood orange, and sugary white grapefruit. A little bit yeasty. Suggestions of a crackery malt base, hints of toast.

T: Raw leafy hop power. Bitterness is formidable. Tobacco. Bitter white grapefruit. More subtle hints of tangerine and mango. Yeasty. Crackery malt base lets the hops dominate. Very dry finish leaves all the raking and bitter hop power to linger.

M: Medium bodied. Lots of raw, raking hop astringency. Carbonation seems to accentuate the hop oils. A lightly creamy malt base is glossed over as the hop oils muscle in on the feel.

O: A very raw and powerful hop-centric pale ale that uses Citra quite obviously as its focal point. A little bit of rough yeast character adds to the raw feel of it too. More of a 'Shock and Awe' approach from Southern Tier, as they normally make very clean and focused beers. It's punishing in a good way, if you're a hop head and you like that sort of thing. It draws some comparisons to Zombie Dust in the way it wields the citra hop. A great buy at its price point and availability, and the concert ticket marketing really works for it. Great concept, great execution.
